Disappointing experience I had an appointment with Joe Luy. on a Saturday at 10am. He was with another customer and had us work with Joe Thornton from the VW area. Joe Thorn I had an appointment with Joe Luy. on a Saturday at 10am. He was with another customer and had us work with Joe Thornton from the VW area. Joe Thornton was young and not very professional. Despite this, I agreed to purchase the car that day. It was agreed that they would clean the car (convertible with a light top had been parked under a tree for some time), install a hitch for my bike rack. and check a slight shaking that we noticed in the car. I made it clear that I needed the car by the following Wednesday, with the hitch because I had a race in MI and needed to attach my bike rack. I dropped a check off for the car on Monday. When I showed to pick up the car on Wednesday there were many issues. The car was filthy for one. When you purchase a brand new car, you expect it to be delivered clean. Especially when the condition of the car was pointed out and it was agreed that it would be cleaned. I was disrespected by the VW manager and made to feel like an inconvenience. The car did not have a front license plate on it. Joe T. suggested that I didn't need it, as long as I had it in the car I would be fine. I insisted that it be installed before I took the car. It is illegal in IL to drive without a front plate. While Joe T. was installing the floor mats, he did something (still not sure what he did) and said "xxxx I F#%*ed that up". This was said right in front of me. I did take the car that day with the understanding that I would bring it back the following week to have it cleaned properly and the shaking checked out. Once I brought it back, it took two days to get it done. I inquired about some type of compensation for the miserable experience I had and was given two free oil changes...I get two years of free maintenance with the purchase of my new car. Joe Luy told me he would give me a call the following week about further compensation. That was four weeks ago and I have not heard a thing. Suggestions of useful compensation would start with a heartfelt apology for the way I was treated and could have included future detailing packages, a year subscription to VW Car-net service or some VW merchandise. I have to say that Courtney Karau in the service department is fantastic and I will continue to bring my car in for service because of her. Unfortunately, I will not be buying any future cars from Lou Bachrodt based solely on this experience. More

Narrowing our search for our Colorado Prosper took the time when we first stopped at Lou Bachrodt in mid-August to review the large selections of Chevy Colorados as well as other trucks on Prosper took the time when we first stopped at Lou Bachrodt in mid-August to review the large selections of Chevy Colorados as well as other trucks on the lot. We were not able to spend much time that day as we were also grand-parenting that day. We spent more time online reviewing the trucks and then scheduled a visit with Prosper over the phone. His friendly, relaxed and courteous approach helped us as we narrowed our search and selected the Colorado which we purchased. More

I t My husband and I came to this dealership for a used Silverado. When we went into the building to talk numbers Gary had us fill out an application. I told Gary we did NOT want multiple dings on our credit for hard inquiries. It was done anyway. They sent out so many requests to multiple financial institutions. Our credit was being rebuilt and once this was done, it did affect our credit negatively. Never again! More

Good Sales Experience, Numerous Loose Ends I stopped in to look at a couple GMC trucks on the way to a different dealership. One truck seemed like a good fit and Michael was very helpful in setting up a test drive. It was a little out of my intended price range, but Michael and TJ worked with me to strike a deal that was acceptable. Excellent customer service and conversation with Michael and TJ and the other VW guy. The finance department experience was pretty normal, a little aggressive trying to sell extended warranty priducts. Got paperwork and payment completed and submitted, but was told there was one certification document the salesperson couldn't get because the used vehicle manager was off work that day. No big deal, Michael had told me he was gone on the test drive. Sales paperwork was complete so we went home after agreeing to have the paper emailed/faxed and signed. I was given GM certification paperwork, but I was pretty sure it was a non-CPO vehicle. I was contacted the next day and asked to come in and sign the Q-Certification paperwork rather than email signature. So, I dove back to Rockford (about 30 miles) with my kids to sign the paperwork. When I got there, I was given a copy of my Q-Certification (which I didn't actually have to sign) and was then told they needed the GM paperwork back and that my wife needed to sign off on my trade-in since we both owned it. I was a little irritated at this point since I had told the person test driving my vehicle that both names were on my trade-in. Definitely an oversight on the dealer's part. I would have been nice to know that before I made a special trip to Rockford with my kids and waited for 30+ minutes. So, I ended up bringing my wife and kids back to Rockford later the next day for another trip to the dealership to finalize the trade. Michael offered me some fuel for my driving (~120 miles by this point), which I appreciated, but in the meantime had found the console latch was cracked. I told him I would like to have the part (~$25) comped and sent to my house and install it myself, rather than the tank of fuel, and he agreed to that deal. I showed the parts manager the part and part number straight from GM Parts Direct diagram and he agreed to send it. When it arrived at my house today, it was the wrong part and part number. Haven't yet contacted the dealership about it, and not sure if it's their problem or the distributor's problem, but inconvenient to say the least. Overall, the buying experience was very good, and Michael and TJ were great to work with and I would work with them again. However, the multiple loose ends that resulted in multiple trips back to the dealership put a damper on the experience and was a significant inconvenience. 5 Stars for the sale, 1 star for the paperwork fiasco.
