Mr Bennet Houck is very knowledgeable in Toyota products, and has been very helpful in explaining the important issues concerning driving the new Prius in an efficient and effective manner. This was partly a routine scheduled maintenance visit, and partly a check on my car after some very rough driving. I had hoped to have the car cleaned and detailed, not realizing that that service wasn't available on Saturdays; to make up for that, Jeremy and his crew took care of my most pressing concern (cleaning the road gunk from the door frames) gratis. I am a loyal Toyota customer, and I also specifically choose to take my van to the Toyota service center when it needs work. One of the primary reasons I do so is because my expectation is that at Toyota choose to take my van to the Toyota service center when it needs work. One of the primary reasons I do so is because my expectation is that at Toyota, they will not miss any of the 'quirky' things that my van needs after routine maintenance (e.g. resetting the 'maintenance required' indicator after an oil change). This week, I stopped in for a new battery. When I opened my driver's window after driving a few miles away from the dealer again, I realized that the auto-power window wasn't functioning. Called back to ask how to reset, and was asked to turn around and come back. When I got there, I got a bit of runaround from the tech that was at my door when I opened it and told him that it had worked in the morning but not after the battery replacement so I was looking for the switch to make it work again...he was indicating that it shouldn't have anything to do with the battery replacement, because that was a simple cable lift/replace (seemed obvious that he was uncomfortable and seemed to be trying to dodge any 'perceived responsibility'). While he went to find a Service Advisor to help, I opened my manual and found the reset procedure myself and performed it. Clearly within my ability. HOWEVER...as I said, my expectation is that Toyota shouldn't make their customers dig for those things after maintenance...if it's not already part of the 'battery replace' checklist, it NEEDS TO be. I'm willing to pay for Toyota parts and service because I expect better in the results. Irritated to have to make the extra effort and to be told to drive the extra miles for something so simple. More
