This was my first oil change on my 2025 Telluride SXP. This is also the first time I've been told the first oil change on a new purchase IS NOT free. I've been a loyal Luther Kia Inver Grove Heights customer for 20 years. In that time I've bought a used Santa Fe, 2 new Nissan Rogues, 7 new Kia Sorentos, and 2 new Kia Tellurides. Every time I bought a car from this dealership I received the first oil change for free. NOT THIS TIME. I was told the sales manager told the service advisor this stopped two years ago. No, I had the first oil changed on my previous 2022 Telluride - FOR FREE. Beyond that, the "mechanic" that performed the oil change not only reset the Since Refueling mileage, he also reset the Accumulated Info mileage. I was keeping the Accumulated Mileage from manufacture date to accumulate average mileage since new - NOT ANY MORE - THANKS A BUNCH. This is also a first for me. He also changed the climate control to LO so the AC was on perpetually. Quit fiddling around with the customer settings on climate control or other settings! And to finish the package, the complimentary "wash job" that I received actually left the hatch door and window dirtier than when I came in. IS NO ONE WATCHING WHAT THE xxxx IS GOING ON? With the sales manager and service manager changes in the past few years I am seeing a negative change in customer care and frankly, I don't appreciate it. It would appear they no longer care about the people that brought this dealership to it's current position. Frankly, I don't believe I will be participating in their experiment for my future service needs, much less future purchases. More
Price was a significant part of our considerations, but more important to us was the character, responsiveness and cooperation from our salesperson, and the convenience of the buying process. My wife and I have both been involved with professional sales for over 40 years, and I have taught Marketing and Sales in 2 different MBA programs, so I am confident that I can tell a competent salesperson when I connect with one. I prepared a straightforward letter telling each of the 4 Twin Cities Kia Dealers' salespeople what we wanted and didn't want. Our salesperson Igor at Kia of Inver Grove Heights sent me an OTD price and 24 & 36 month Lease payments within one hour of receiving my letter. He sent me a Credit app online and we visited the next day. It turned out to be the best car buying experience we've ever had in 50 years of buying new cars. He was informative, cooperative, responsive, well-prepared and organized, and had us test driving our new Sportage within 20 minutes after arriving. He hooked us up with his very pleasant and well-organized finance manager, and then took us back out to our new car and spent 35 minutes showing us how to operate all the features, including getting my wife and I both operationally set up for Apple Car Play and Kia Connect. Rudy was a great sales associate, very knowledgeable and helpful in the process. Nick in finance was great as well.
