Pretty lengthy oil change On December 26, 2018, at 8:17am I called Park Place Motors to make an appointment to get an oil change. Thinking that I would have to wait a few days On December 26, 2018, at 8:17am I called Park Place Motors to make an appointment to get an oil change. Thinking that I would have to wait a few days for the oil service, 12 days later on January 7, 2019, I was able to make an appointment……..for an oil change. There was no other service needed. Upon pulling into the service bay on January 7th, fifteen minutes early, there were no other cars in the bay waiting, and an Audi SUV pulled in after me. Shortly before 1:30, I started to wonder about the time it was taking on my car, and walked past the expensive BMW 8 series coupe to look out the window for my car to be done and sitting outside. At 1:30pm, the service advisor sat down to tell me of recommended service asked me if I would like a car wash, and said it would be another 10 to 15 minutes more. At 2:00pm, my car was finally done. I paid and went out to my car, and after getting on the road, the windshield washer fluid light came on- it was not filled when my paperwork reflects that it was checked and filled. That got me thinking about the two plus hours I spent at Park Place for an oil change. I know that I could take my car to a number of places to have service work done in a much timelier manner, and not have to make an appointment 12 days out for an oil change, but I wanted to because it is a VW dealership and there is a certain “trust” factor that goes along with that. Now I’m not angry about the windshield washer fluid still empty, but it infringes on that “trust” factor of care to one's vehicle at a dealer. Again, it may just be windshield washer fluid, but it gets me wondering, did I really get fresh oil with this oil change? Is my car really in need of a $130.00 brake fluid flush, or a $150.00 engine carbon flush that the service advisor recommended? I know that my car is, “Just a VW” but I get the feeling that if it were an M4, or a TTS, or that fancy 8 series coupe on the showroom , that simple washer fluid light would not come on after I left the dealer. I like the convenience of having access to a VW dealer in Rochester, but if feelings of trust are being affected, I start to question whether or not I am getting the quality service that VW service, and the Luther Auto Group so proudly promotes. More
