On August 7, I had my Mini Cooper towed 33.1 miles from Keller, Texas to MINI of Dallas (6250 Lemmon Ave, Dallas, TX 75209) for a scheduled service appointment on August 8 at 7:00 AM. I arrived before closing, and Oscar Miranda kindly completed the intake. He was courteous and professional, which gave me hope that my car would soon be back on the road. For context: back in March, I purchased a CAS module for $675.00 because my car wasn’t recognizing the key fob. The module was supposed to be programmed to my VIN, but it didn’t work. I reinstalled the original module, and the car ran fine for three months before dying again. At that point, I decided to seek professional service, hoping MINI of Dallas could diagnose the issue and help resolve it. However, on Friday, I received a call from Oscar informing me that Service Manager Carlos Fonseca refused to work on my vehicle due to “no service history.” I was stunned. I purchased the car from MINI of Dallas, and it has previously been serviced at MINI of Plano and MINI of San Antonio. I expected MINI of Dallas to stand behind their brand and assist a customer in need—not turn me away arbitrarily. This left me with a $675.00 CAS module and no resolution. I had the car towed again—this time to BMW of Arlington. Their team programmed the CAS unit correctly for $392.88, performed a multi-point inspection, replaced spark plugs, reset CBS data, and repaired a slipping clutch—all for $3,584.63. The car is now running beautifully. MINI of Dallas failed to provide even basic diagnostic support. I strongly urge the dealership to reconsider its approach to customer service and perhaps reach out to BMW of Arlington for some tips on how to treat customers with respect and professionalism. We both have driven Lexus autos for the past 25 years and had numerous questions regarding service expectations. The day we took delivery of the MINI, Kevin went over in detail all of the features of the car. We stopped back by the dealership with a couple of questions a few days later and he took the time to answer them. I called after seeing an online picture of a 2019 Cooper S 2 door. I spoke with salesman Jaylin Lovelace and asked him to send me detailed pictures of the car since I lived in Florida and couldn’t just driv S 2 door.
