I had my front passenger drive shaft replaced in October of 2020 by this dealership. 8 months later, I noticed a sound coming from the same place, so I made an appointment and had to wait 3 weeks to get in of 2020 by this dealership. 8 months later, I noticed a sound coming from the same place, so I made an appointment and had to wait 3 weeks to get in, to see what the problem was. After having 3 technicians take the car for a drive and look it over, I was told that it was likely just uneven wear and tear on my tires. So I asked them to be rotated. The noise continued to persist and got louder. I tried to get another appointment, however the wait time was going to be 3 weeks again. So I opted to go to a local mechanic who I trust. He found the front differential was nearly out of lubricant due to a leaking seal where the passenger side drive shaft enters the differential. The seal had been damaged upon installation of the drive shaft last fall. So, I had the local mechanic fix the problem and he gave me the damaged seal to show Maple Hill Auto Group. He told me that the noise was still present as this was the result of permanent damage done over the length of time my car was operating without lubricant. I immediately called and left a message with the Service Manager at Maple Hill but never received a call back. A few days later I tried again and was asked to bring my car in so that they could see if there was a solution for fixing the noise. I rode along with a service technician to point out the noise. They told me they wanted to put my car in the air and use a stethoscope to pinpoint the exact location of the noise. Their findings concluded that the noise could be heard more on the CVT pan and tail housing and that the internal bearing in the CVT had failed causing the noise. In my opinion, they should have used the stethoscope the very first time that my car was in after reporting the noise. Instead, I paid for a service appointment with no real findings and also paid to have my tires rotated. The big bummer is that I continued to drive the car with a problem that persisted caused further damage. After speaking with people who know cars, I am learning that the fact that my fluid was low could definitely cause damage to the bearing. I drove with a damaged seal for 11 months. When I asked them how this was possible, the service manager said "I don't know." I was then handed an estimate for more than $7,000.00 to replace the transmission along with the keys to my car and was told to have a nice day. This oversight is complete negligence. They had the history of my car and had they just looked back on the work they had done in the first place, they could have noticed the fluid was low. They also could have used the stethoscope the first time instead of blaming the noise on possible tire wear. The noise is a classic transmission "hum", even my husband (who is not a mechanic) said that's what he thought it was before we even took it in. So, the moral to this story is: If 3 technicians can't find the source of the problem with MY car, then maybe you should think about taking YOUR car somewhere else! More
