I was expecting to get ripped off I've had a distrust of dealership service centers since I was a teenager in the mechanic field and heard about all the rip-offs perpetrated on unknowi I've had a distrust of dealership service centers since I was a teenager in the mechanic field and heard about all the rip-offs perpetrated on unknowing car owners. It seemed then that dealerships were at top of the pile. But I had no choice to go a dealership as the independent mechanics could not solve this problem. It wasn't cheap but the mechanic who worked on my car was super intelligent about tracking down the actual problem. He didn't just start replacing parts, in fact, he didn't replace any parts. The diagnostic fee was huge and they said it included no repairs but he did indeed clean some electrical contacts which may be the final repair. I don't feel ripped off at all. In fact I wish now that I had gone straight to maplewood toyota instead of wasting money on the independent mechanic who didn't really know how to track down a difficult electrical issue. More
