Ken Kazarian and Martin Honda are the best! Imagine this scenario... You want a specific used car, specific color, specific trim, very specific past history and reasonable mileage for its age Imagine this scenario... You want a specific used car, specific color, specific trim, very specific past history and reasonable mileage for its age. And you've been looking for about 10 months and that finally, finally the dealership that has the car is 200 miles away from your house. Do you go for it or continue looking for something nearby? I was looking for a 2015 Honda Pilot, Touring Trim, reasonable miles (60,000), dark cherry with tan interior, that had one owner, clean carfax, and was taken care of for its whole life by one Honda Dealership and was pre-certified. After looking forever and checking Carfax daily the exact car popped up. Even before pictures had been posted I was on the phone. Enter Ken Kazarian and the good folks at Martin Honda in Newark, DE. Overall I haven't had good experiences with the local Honda dealerships in the Richmond, Virginia area except for West Broad/Mechanicsville Honda. Stay away from Pearson and especially Colonial Honda so my initial call to Martin was filled with nervousness as to how Martin Honda would present themselves. Ken was great from the beginning. I knew that I would need to get up to Newark as soon as I could because of the overall interest in this car BUT it being early in the week I knew I couldn't get there until the weekend and the plan was to run the Richmond Half Marathon that Saturday morning. We agreed that I could put down a nominal deposit and I would get refunded if I didn't like the car. We ran the half marathon that morning, quickly came home to change and headed north. Ken was flexible and patient when we didn't arrive until later than we hoped (getting around DC is always a hassle) and was willing to stay late. We saw the car and knew we wanted it but Ken wanted more time to make it perfect (even though it was already pre-certified) because he wanted up to his standards. Since we were coming back up that way the following week for my wife to run the Philly Marathon he said, "let me make it perfect"...and he did. The dealership spent time detailing it, touching up some dings, there was an issue with the windshield washer reservoir and other minor things. Here's my point. What could have been a challenge and hassle turned into a wonderful buying experience. Ken took interest in our running, checked in to see how things were going, was patient and kind and all-around wonderful. Couldn't have asked for a better car-buying experience. Thank you Ken! And Martin Honda! We know where to buy our next Honda and who to purchase it from. More
