How dealerships should do it- Luis in Sales rocked it! Luis was amazing. I had put an inquiry in online, thinking I was clicking on the dealer closest to me on Atlantic Boulevard. Luis reached out to me and announced he was from Orange Park, a sister store. I politely informed him that I would not be driving to Orange Park to look at this vehicle. He said, “no problem, I’ll drive one out for you to test drive.” I just had a horrible visit at the Hyundai dealer the night before, where I was very upfront about my situation, my expectation of higher interest-rate based on my credit, expectation of some negative equity in my trade-in, and was very upfront about all of that on the phone call, and had driven out there— and they decided to not even let me test drive a car based on my needs. They could’ve told me that over the phone, rather than me gathering up my family to drive 30 minutes away. So when Luis called me, I again, was very upfront, and told him he might not be able to help me, but he felt strongly that I wasn’t being unrealistic at all. I went ahead and gave him all of my information, and Luis, having a direct relationship with the banks, found a suitable lender who not only got me a 3.99%, but got me a payment *below* what I was expecting. I told him I don’t know much about Mazda, but I had found the Mazda3 hatchback to be visually appealing. Let him know that I still might not like it if the seat wasn’t comfortable, etc. He said no problem, brought me the car anyway-45 minutes away from his dealership to my work on my lunch break. The test drive went great, this was the best car I’d driven in that price category. Luis verified the condition of my trade and we shook hands— So my answer was yes. So Luis gets it back to the dealership, gets it cleaned up and delivers it to my house after work where we signed the paperwork at my dining room table. How can you beat that?! The paperwork matched our discussions, no sneaky “slid in” stuff, There was no back and forth, the internet price advertised was shown on an internet search as a good value and was honored easily. He asked me about the extended warranties and reminded me of the gap which I ALWAYS do when financing. This is the future of car buying. One man selling, procuring financing, and delivering the vehicle. He earned it! Ps. I work in the dealership industry, it’s hard to impress me ...I’m impressed!! She did not purchase a car there, but when she heard we were in the market for a new CX9, she insisted we go see Joel at Mazda City. She was spot on! Joel, unlike some of his counterparts, knows his Mazda vehicles well. His relaxed manor, product knowledge, patience, and in-vehicle systems explanations were outstanding. Joel had a new CX9 Signature on the lot, at an offered price well below any other dealership (we searched in GA and FL).
