My second Hyundai (cash) Before getting to the car dealer I knew for sure I wanted to buy a Hyundai Accent (like my former car). Mr. Mahmood showed my daughter and I another Before getting to the car dealer I knew for sure I wanted to buy a Hyundai Accent (like my former car). Mr. Mahmood showed my daughter and I another car in the showroom. I told him what I wanted, just some basic car. He took us out to the lot where I test drove exactly what I wanted. I made up my mind quickly what color I wanted. Then we went inside the office to talk about the price. The ad we saw was for $13,889. It turned out that the price was higher due to taxes, license plates, AND a fee which we had to ask "what is this?" It was an amount around $1,449 for a service/insurance that the dealer tagged onto the price of the car without even asking the customer. We were in that office for about 5 hours negotiating back and forth. I did not even want any financing because I was ready to pay cash. After we settled on a final price, then we had to wait to get called to go into another office. Once we were in that office, it didn't take that long in there. Then we had to go to the cashier to pay. All in all, we were in the office around 5 hours. I have bought apartment buildings which the real estate closing takes between 1-3 hours. To buy a Hyundai took around 5 hours...too long and unnecessary. I think that the customer's time is valuable too. I went in there not to "look around, undecided" but to buy quickly without any hassle. In my opinion, buying a car should not take more time than buying a building, but it did. I had plenty of time to fill-out this survey while I was in the dealer's office, instead of later on getting this survey to fill out. More
