I would like to take this opportunity to apologize for how Kathy Comer handled the situation. Unfortunately she should have gotten another supervisor involved right away when Kane Meland was not available. As far as your bumper I would like to look up the deal and determine the time line from the time that you purchased the vehicle used from us and when the "spider" cracking started. Because it is a pre-driven car it is not covered under any kind of factory warranty, however I would like to see if we worked on the vehicle prior to you taking delivery. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you Scott McGrath McGrath Nissan

Victor, I have done all my research on the previous history of the vehicle. We sold the vehicle new and then took it in trade. We have no history on the previous customer or us doing any body repairs to the vehicle at any time. We checked carfax and there are no accident reports on the vehicle. I understand that after one year of ownership you are upset because your Maxima has "spider cracks" on the bumper, however we did not paint the bumper. I can only assume that someone bumped your car in a parking lot with out your knowledge and the flexing of the plastic bumper caused the paint to crack. If you would like our assistance I would be more than happy to complete the repair at our internal cost. I tried to call you back but you where not at home. Please give me a call and we can discuss it further. Scott McGrath

Victor, We will remove the front bumper, remove all the current paint that is on the panel, prime it, add a flex agent, repaint it and re-install it for our cost of $240.00. It will take 3-4 days to complete the job so I will put you in a rental car for that time and I will pay for that. If that works please give Charles Haynes a call in our collision repair shop (847-695-6700) and he will schedule you in for the repair. Thanks, Scott McGrath

I am sorry that our client experienced this problem after more than a year of ownership with his used 2010 Maxima. We did look at the history of the vehicle and neither the vehicle history report, nor our records show any kind of bumper repair with the previous customer. We did offer to remove the bumper from the car, re-prime and re-paint the surface, and re-install it at our cost of $200.00. We would also provide the customer with the use of a rental car at no charge while we completed the repair. The client decided not to accept the offer. We are sorry for the inconvenience

Thank you for the kind words about your salesperson. Whether it's your first time buying a car or more, it's no excuse allowing the car to leave this dealership less than you expected. I look forward to you returning, putting you in a loaner car, repairing the paint surface and detail the vehicle to your complete satisfaction. I am very sorry for the inconvenience and I can assure you it will be handled in a timely and professional manner. Scott McGrath, McGrath Nissan

Jason: Although I understand your frustration with some of the problems that occurred with the purchase of your new Alitma I am taken back by the term unethical. First of all the mud flaps were not on the vehicle from the beginning and I was the one that told Keith to remove them from another car and install them on yours. Nissan has had a problem with back orders on splash guards since the intro of the vehicle. As to your trade in, we did have a problem with condition as to how it was described by you early in the process, however at the end of the day we bit the bullet and sold the vehicle for the original price and overlooked the difference in condition. How is that seen as unethical? If you purchased a vehicle off ebay and when you went to pay for it, the description was not the condition what would you do? The confusion concerning the sales tax should have been avoided and as a result of you paying the sales tax instead of us did slow down the reimbusement to you. For that I am sorry. Doc fee's and Illinois drive-away stickers are a set item. We have to issue the $10 drive away to get you home and the doc fee is on every sale new or used. Sorry for all the confusion and please contact us if there is anything else owed to you. I hope that this answers some questions.

McGrath Nissan responded

I am sorry that this client feels the way that they do. The specific accessories were very small items, a tube of touch up paint, a small trunk net and the splash guards for the vehicle. We explained that Nissan had the splash guards on back order, however we were able to bring in a vehicle that matched and removed the splash guards from that vehicle and install them on there new car. Documentation fee are charged on every vehicle and I needed to issue a $10 Illinois drive away to get the client home because he didn't have Wisconsin license plates. As to the Taxes being paid, I am sorry for the confusion. We explained that we would collect and pay the taxes, however the client went to the DMV in Wisconsin immediately and payed them to process the license plates. At that time we needed to verify the payment so we could reimburse him. I am sorry that it took to long. I do hope the client enjoys the new Altima and as always, if there is anything that I can do to assist in the future please don't hesitate to contact me. Scott McGrath McGrath Nissan
