Dishonest, Shady, and Overpriced – Buyer Beware I’ve been servicing my vehicle at McKinney Buick GMC since 2021, but ever since my prepaid service contract ended, things have gone downhill fast. The lev been servicing my vehicle at McKinney Buick GMC since 2021, but ever since my prepaid service contract ended, things have gone downhill fast. The level of dishonesty and scammy behavior I’ve encountered from the service department over my last few visits has been beyond frustrating—it’s infuriating. It started months ago when they told me I needed a new air filter and cabin filter. Problem was, I had just installed a brand-new K&N air filter the day before. When I called them out, they admitted they didn’t even check—it was just a generic recommendation based on mileage. I let it slide since they were honest when called out. Fast-forward to last week, they tried the same thing again. This time, they told me they checked my filters and they were dirty. I knew for a fact they weren’t—I had cleaned both myself recently. I pointed out that there are clear stickers under the hood and inside the glovebox stating they’re K&N reusable filters. When I confronted the advisor, she backpedaled and admitted it was another mileage-based recommendation. That’s not just lazy—it’s deceptive. But it gets worse. After declining the unnecessary filter replacements, I received a text with a laundry list of overpriced “recommended” services: Transmission Flush: $269.95 Coolant Flush: $195.95 EFI Service: $220.00 Throttle Body Cleaning: $89.95 Cabin Filter (again): ~$80 I declined them all but saved screenshots for reference. So I could remember what to get done in the future When I went to check out, I noticed they added a $20 tire rotation I never asked for. When I told the advisor to remove it, she insisted it was done. I stared her down and told her that wasn’t possible—my truck has brand-new tires with less than 25 miles on them, and the wheel lock key was secured in a locked safe inside the truck. I asked her how they managed to “rotate” tires without the lock key. She said nothing other then I will remove it and quietly removed the charge. No apology. Just got caught. Despite all this, I came back a week later to get the transmission flush—because it was due. I asked to confirm the price I was quoted last week ($269.95), and was told by Raul it was actually $700. I showed him the screenshot I took of their own system with the quote. After some back-and-forth, Raul went to his manager and got the price down to $399. While still $130 higher than what I was quoted in writing, I agreed—mainly because Raul was the only one acting like a professional and trying to make things right. He even offered a free detail and ceramic wax to help smooth things over but I did turn it down for the moment becasue it was late in the day and he said I could come back and get it at any time on them for my troubles. I appreciated that and told him as much. If I could separate Raul from this review, I would. But then it fell apart again. When I went to pay (different advisor then Raul), the bill was $450+tax, not $399+tax as quoted. Why? A mysterious “disposal fee” / "Misc charge" was added. I told the person at checkout (who clearly didn’t care about customer service) that it wasn’t what I was quoted, and he just shrugged it off like it was my problem. He wouldn’t remove it, wouldn’t explain it, just handed me my keys like “take it or leave it.” So here I am—writing the review I hoped I wouldn’t have to write. Summary: Tried to sell me parts I didn’t need—twice. Billed me for services that were never performed. Only removed them after I pointed out the impossibility of them being done. Gave misleading price quotes that mysteriously increased at checkout. Showed zero accountability unless caught red-handed—with screenshots. Clearly operate with a business model built around upcharges, deception, and apathy toward the customer experience. McKinney Buick GMC's service department should be ashamed. I’ve been a loyal customer for years, but never again. I encourage anyone reading this to be extrem More

First, Patrick in financing flat out lied to us that all of the warranties are refundable. The Exterior Care Warranty was NOT refundable. We verbally verified with Patrick several times that all of the warranties were refundable and he assured us they all were. That was a lie. When we tried to reach out to the dealership to remedy this, they said "It's not refundable" and did nothing to rectify Patrick's lie. I see in other reviews on Google he has done this also to other people. We were happy with our salesman but, when we got the car home finally (long story of a back-ordered rear-differential debacle that started making noises as we drove off their lot), our local mechanic found the rear struts had been leaking for quite some time and were badly in need of being replaced. This was NOT disclosed at the point of sale and should have been obvious at their inspection when they are listing the condition of the used vehicle. One of the dealership's sales pitch points is their rigorous, competent inspection they promise, and this needed repair was not disclosed and will cost me over $1,000 to fix. I have several complaints about the customer service experience with McKinney Buick GMC, but my main complaint is being lied to about the warranty's refundability, the car's mechanical integrity not being assessed or disclosed properly, and the absolute headache of working with any management who would shuffle us off to other departments and say it "wasn't their problem" or "their hands are tied". We were even told at one point by a manager we needed to "take personal responsibility for buying a high mileage vehicle" during a phone conversation when we called for help for rectifying our situation of being without our purchased vehicle for such a long time (3 months) when our vehicle displayed major problems upon driving off the lot and we had to leave it there. They offered no loaner, no option to return the car and source a different one, or option to have our local GMC dealership make the repair (we bought this car from out of state) so we would not have to keep driving back to TX. They would not alter their protocol for our situation of living out of state and would not skip the initial step of a flush before ordering the necessary part, resulting in a radically extended wait time (3 months). The flush fluid and the part were both on back order, so instead of being put on the right list for the part in a timely manner, they made us wait for back-ordered flush fluid for a treatment that would not fix the failing part. After 2 weeks of no progress, we personally called around to neighboring GMC dealerships who had plenty of fluid to sell to McKinney Buick GMC, and that is how we found the fluid for the dealership. They flushed the rear differential and told us it was fixed. We drove to TX to pick up the car only to find out the fluid flush did not get rid of the noisy symptoms. After much back and forth they agreed to order a new rear differential. This circus of protocol delayed the resolution significantly for us. We had strongly contended for a replacement for the failing part to begin with. Ultimately, the dealership did replace the defective part, but only after 3 months of waiting for the part to come in from a national back-order (and the first rear differential part being "lost" during shipping and we had to be put back at the bottom on the national back-order list for another one). We were stuck with paying full interest, insurance and payments for 3 months on a car that was out of service upon purchase, with no transportation solution or reimbursement option offered to us. Friendly staff. Courteous of your time and schedule . Attentive to what you want done, not what that think you should have done. Courteous of your time and schedule . Attentive to what you want done, not what that think you should have done. More

Less than two weeks of ownership, we discovered major issues with the motor mounts and the control arms that hold the engine in place. We also found rust on the spark plugs and on the battery terminals. Dylan Christian the manager told us that is what we should expect from an older used car. He also said they were not willing to do the right thing and a refund/return would cost them money! Worst customer service experience of my life! He was condescending and rude! More
First maintenance visit today and went well. For an oil change and car wash I waited an hour and half which I think is a bit long to wait. But other than that it was ok. For an oil change and car wash I waited an hour and half which I think is a bit long to wait. But other than that it was ok. More
First time to dealership. Brought it in for service, recall items and to diagnose the infotainment system that had quit working. I dropped off on a Wednesday and left messages Brought it in for service, recall items and to diagnose the infotainment system that had quit working. I dropped off on a Wednesday and left messages checking on status Thursday evening, Friday morning and Friday evening to which no one replied. I finally got a call back on Saturday letting me know it was done. I pick it up and the infotainment (radio, nav, seat controls etc) was not even looked at much less fixed. It wasn't even on the paperwork. I was told to bring it back the following Saturday and they might be able to get to it. I've since taken it to another gmc dealer who is finishing the warranty work. Extremely disappointed. More
