Mr. Park, It's disappointing to hear that you were disatisfied with our service department. Perhaps we could have done a better job of explaining why we couldn't reset your headrest. Apparently you were involved in a rear-end collision. When that happens, sensors in the bumper activate the Pre-Safe feature in your car which puts the headrest in position to protect you against whiplash. When that happens the sensors need to replaced in the bumper along with any body work required. We can't reset the headrest without replacing the sensors. If the sensors aren't replaced, then the Pre-safe feature would not function properly and if you were in another accident, you wouldn't have the protection that is a feature of this car. Because of this, if we were just to reset the headrest, we would be exposed to liability and also put your safety at risk. In other words, we would by bypassing a saftey feature that is standard on your car. I hope you understand the liability that this would place the dealership under. A body shop is in the best position to fix both the body damage and replace the sensors, which is why Shane referred you to our body shop in Tysons. I hope this explanation gives you some further insight to the service we provided you when you came into our service department. Your safety is important to us and we have your best interests in mind. Respectfully, Bert O'Neal General Mgr Mercedes-Benz of Chantilly

Client brought car in after being involved in a rear-end collision. A safety feature of the car called Pre-Safe had been activated because of the accident moving the headrests in a position to help prevent whiplash. Sensors in the bumper were damaged in the accident preventing the dealership from simply resetting the headrest. Sensors needed to be replaced in the bumper first by a body shop before any reset of the headrests could occur. Simply resetting the headrest would prevent the safety features from functioning properly and could pose a safety risk to our client. This explanation was provided to the client but he still wanted the headrest reset which was not possible due to the reasons stated above.
