BUYER BEWARE - MISLEADING SALES PRACTICES I purchased a used vehicle from Mercedes-Benz of Chicago after being told it had only been involved in a minor accident, based on the Carfax report provided. Because this came from an official Mercedes-Benz dealership, I trusted the representation and moved forward with the purchase. Unfortunately, I later discovered that the car had actually been involved in a major accident, with damage far exceeding what could be described as “minor.” This level of damage would have been obvious to a qualified dealer—yet it was not disclosed. When I raised the issue, General Manager Dan Flood and the dealership refused to take any responsibility, claiming that the Carfax didn’t indicate major damage and therefore they are not accountable. It’s incredibly disappointing to see a Mercedes-Benz dealership hide behind a third-party report instead of standing behind the integrity of the vehicles they sell. Reputable dealers should conduct proper due diligence—especially when the vehicle shows signs of structural damage—and not rely solely on Carfax. If you're considering purchasing a used vehicle from Mercedes-Benz of Chicago, I strongly urge you to get an independent inspection and not rely solely on the dealership’s assurances. I’m sharing this experience so others can make better-informed decisions and hopefully avoid a similar situation. More
