Every service visit is more expense than planned and takes longer than expected. In addition, I found out this time that Mercedes seats routinely wear out after 30,000 miles. We took our Mercedes for service for a check engine light. It turned out to be a major engine job that the warranty would only partially cover. Our out of pocket was almost $3500. Within 24 hours of picking the car up, the check engine light came on again. We took it back in for them to attend to the problem. Upon returning to get my car again, naturally, I asked many questions, which they were very reluctant to answer. We finally learned that the technician carelessly swapped two connectors to the turbocharger that could have been disastrous. I was told that “the plugs were the same and were easy to confuse.” I felt as if it was laughed off. Both of our visits for this issue were rushed and we felt as if they were just trying to get us out of there ASAP. On both visits, I had to ask more than once for explanations of what had been done, how long the work was guaranteed, etc. They just wanted to direct you to the cashier’s window for payment . The service manager appears to run things quickly and efficiently, however, it seems that quality personal service takes a back seat to the quantity of vehicles they push through. More
