However, there were a couple of things that left a bad taste. When I wanted to place a deposit to hold the vehicle while I arranged financing through my own credit union, they wouldn't allow it and pushed me toward their in-house financing instead. The bigger issue is a key situation that still isn't resolved over a month later. I purchased a used VW that came with only one key. During negotiations, I made clear that a second key was important to us since my wife and I share the vehicle. I asked for a $500 credit on my trade-in to cover the cost of a replacement key, but they countered by promising they would obtain the second key directly from the previous owner instead. I agreed to that. They were never able to get the key. So I'm now asking them to reimburse me for the replacement cost since I'll need to order one through VW — and the sales team has gone unresponsive. It feels like I was told what I needed to hear to close the deal, and once the sale was done, the commitment went away. Fair upfront, but the after-sale experience has been a real letdown. More
