Thanks to the persistence of the technician, who replaced one part at a time and finally solved the problem through a process of trial and error. Randi did not have any loaners available when we brought it in but when our 1996 E300 had the alternator fail, they provided us with a rental car at no charge while both cars were in the "shop."
