Alan's professionalism, courtesy, friendliness, made the entire experience amazing and "painless".. Everyone at the dealership is so friendly and welcoming from the minute you walk in the door. I met one of the receptionists' Janet, and she was extremely nice. I also met with the Concierge Department who went over my car with me so thoroughly. Second, the price was right (I performed a search over a 200 mile radius from my home, and Peter was able to secure me the best price for a car with my "must-have" features). Horrible service I went to purchase a GL to Mercedes-Benz of Smithtown on April 17 and put a deposit to hold the car and process with the financing. The financing didn't work out and decided to back out. My nightmare started when I requested to refund the deposit on April 20. First the sales person Victor Vignau would not reply to my email when asking when my deposit will be refunded. Then he was upset why I am not buying the car. After multiple emails Victor replied saying "the manager is away till Tuesday, April 26, he has to authorize the request to have our accounting department process the refund". What nonsense is this? A refund can't be processed because a sales manager is away. Did he take the dealership with him... So I waited patiently for his return what else I could do...then once the manager returned, I requested Victor on April 27 for a status of my return. As usual no reply, I had to send multiple emails requesting for an update. Victor replied back saying "Request is in with accounting department, will confirm Thursday upon my return as I am not in the office today..." First I waited for the manager now I have to wait for Victor... On Thursday April 28, Victor replied saying "They are processing reversing the Amex charge today...and will take 24-48 hrs before it gets back into your account.." Oh God please have some mercy on me... Today is May 2nd and no sign of my return. So I had to send an email to the General Manager (William Riedel) of Mercedes-Benz of Smithtown requesting to please intervene and end this ordeal. I thought it would resolve today but wait this is not the end. As per the General Manager, now I have to patiently wait another 24 hours because finally their accounting dept. has all the information to reverse the charge, they will complete that task today. I had to put this in details for others to see and be alert. As you can see from the day one when I requested the refund Mercedes-Benz of Smithtown and it's sales person Victor Vignau was just lying and lying. Still today I have no hope that I will get my deposit back. It takes 13 days to refund a customer’s deposit? With this level of service they claim to be Long Island’s best Benz dealer? At this point, I am glad that I didn’t buy the car from this dealer… I will definitely take this to the MB corporate office. More
