Bad Key Fob This happened about a year ago. My son's 2004 Honda Accord had only one key fob for the car. I bought him one online but you have to take it to the This happened about a year ago. My son's 2004 Honda Accord had only one key fob for the car. I bought him one online but you have to take it to the dealer to program it. I brought it to Middletown Honda. Frank, the service rep told me that they can only use Honda key fobs. That is xx as I have programmed other Honda with a non-OEM fob. But I said ok to move forward with a new fob ($100 + Labor). My son needed the 2nd fob. They cut the key but couldn't program the fob. They told me that there is a "ring" in the steering column that they have to sync up with the new key to but it was not accepting the programming. They told me that they would have to take the column apart to get to the ring but, even then, they weren't sure that they could solve the problem. The estimate for that was $200. So now, the cost of this is $300+. I told them know. But they stuck me with the cost of the new key fob which doesn't work. The manager sent me a survey and I responded with all of the above. Never got a call or follow up from anyone. If they offered me a coupon for service or something, I would have felt better. So, I am done with Middletown Honda. More
