I am a senior citizen and therefore i have purchased many vehicles over the years from several dealerships around the state of South Carolina. I can easily rate this latest purchase at Midlands Honda as the vehicles over the years from several dealerships around the state of South Carolina. I can easily rate this latest purchase at Midlands Honda as the best buying experience for me. We discussed the most difficult part, (my car, your car) easily, and both the salesman and myself had no feeling of animosity. The "my offer, our offer" conversation went very well, and in my judgement very timely. The co-ordination of the salesman doing the "little" stuff behind the scene that gets a customer road ready was timed perfectly with the time required by the finance/insurance manager to perform his duties. The finance/insurance manager, ( Paul Ahn) was as well informed and helpful with those "decisions" one must make as any i have encountered, ever! My husband and I were trying to decide between a Honda and another similar vehicle. We were treated with great respect by Claudette. She was extremely knowledgable about the different models we were considering. After we were done test driving, our experience inside was EXCELLENT. Here is a letter dated June 28, 2009 that I submitted to the General Manager at Midlands Honda about the service we received upon our purchase of a 2006 Honda Accord: Randy Threatt General Manager Midl the General Manager at Midlands Honda about the service we received upon our purchase of a 2006 Honda Accord: Randy Threatt General Manager Midlands Honda 124 Killian Commons Parkway Columbia, SC 29203 Dear Randy: This letter is in reference to service my wife and I recently received from your dealership concerning the purchase of a 2006 Honda Accord. When we purchased this Accord from Midlands Honda on June 7, 2009, we purchased a 159 point inspection for the Accord to be a Honda Certified Used Car. We bought the certification so we would be able to purchase a 48 month 48,000 mile extended warranty. When we purchased the Accord, we asked our salesman, Kacey Green, about the scratches that are on the vehicle. The car has many scratches and the one of major concern is on the left side front fender. The Honda website states that the front fenders are checked to have a smooth appearance; this is not the case with our Accord. When the vehicle went into the service department on June 10, 2009 to have all items corrected on our We Owe sheet (159 point inspection, fix scratches, fix assist handle on the back seat drivers side, take out the mp3 player, and add a front tag bracket) we were told by Kacey to have our vehicle at the service department to have all work performed. The car arrived that morning and the vehicle was at the dealership all day. My wife arrived late that afternoon to pick up the Accord and was not satisfied with the outcome. Upon inspection of the Accord and looking at the repair order, we noticed that the top of the repair order states the Accord was Honda certified declined, that it needed a brake flush, front and rear pads, and 3 Nexium tires. We saw that the assist handle had been ordered and would need to go back for repair, but the scratch was not fixed and there were no notes on the repair order about the scratch. I called Kacey on June 11, 2009 and asked him what was going on with the tires and brakes and why was the scratch not fixed on the front of the vehicle. He stated he would have to get with the managers of the used car department and service department. Upon a call back we were told to have the car over at the dealership by 5pm that day and the tires and brakes would be replaced. (Notice still no word on the scratch.) We were told by the Assistant Service Manger that they did not do it since the car was not Honda Certified and there was confusion between Sales, Accounting, and Service. After the brakes and tires were installed that night, we asked about the scratch once again and we were told that the sales department would have to schedule that and it would get taken care of soon. As of today we have heard nothing. The Honda Certified Used Car website states that the car should have all cosmetic damages corrected on the outside of the vehicle so all scratches should be fixed correctly. We have also noticed that the windshield wiper blades should be replaced and this should have been caught if the inspection had been completed correctly. The website states that wind noise/squeaks/rattles should be corrected. Unfortunately the Accord has a rattle in the passenger front window. The website also states that we should have a copy of the inspection report in the glove box which we were not given. We paid $200 for the Accord to be a Certified Used Honda and according to the certification standards it is not. Although we understood that Midlands Honda was an excellent dealership, our opinion has changed. Catherine purchased her trade from Auto Park Honda of Cary, NC and she received outstanding service unlike the service at Midlands Honda. To this day, July 23, we still have not heard back from the General Manager nor the Pre-Owned Manager about our concerns. (I take that back, we have heard back from the Pre-Owned Manager, but when he called he did not have a clue about anything and needed to give us a call back. Which of course we have not heard back yet!) Upon me putting pressure on the salesman and the assistant service manager we were able to get the tires and brakes replaced a few days after the sale. On July 3, we finally were able to get the scratch fixed after we had to repeatedly call the dealership. I still have no clue why I paid $200 and I doubt that I will ever know if the car is Honda Certified. Obviously their Pre-Owned vehicles are not "inspected" like their website states. BUYER BEWARE!!! More
Mr. Alphonzo Broughton (A.B.), was excellent. He made the difference between me purchasing my CR-V when I did or waiting until February 2010. The day I visited the dealership was just to kill time and see if there were any specials. I just wanted to see what they had to offered. I had no plans of purchasing a car before February 2010. I was pleasantly greeted at the door, all of the employees I encountered were very polite and friendly. I had been communicating by email with the dealership so upon my arrival I asked for Steve Graham. Mr. Graham was very polite and introduced me to my salesperson A.B. A.B. was very polite, truthful and knowledgeable not just about the car but also the business side of purchasing a car. I informed him of my situation and he worked hard to get me in the car I wanted with the payments that I wanted. Next, he helped me convince my husband that I was getting the very best deal for my trade in and the CR-V in the color I wanted. He called my husband and explained everything to him over the phone. He was very respectable and very courteous. My husband and I were very impressed with his professionalism. He even gave me his cell phone number, which he answered each and every time I called. A.B. allowed me to take the car home with me so my husband could test drive it and see exactly what I wanted to buy. When I returned the car and informed him of my husband's doubts, he called my husband and answered his questions. Which helped sealed the deal. After that phone conversation we made and appointment for the next day to met with A.B. and sign the necessary papers to purchase my car. It only took us bout 30-45 minutes to sign all the necessary paperwork to purchase my first Honda. (It took almost two hours to complete the purchase of my last car.) I love my CR-V. I will recommend Midlands Honda to all my friends and associates and tell them to asked for A.B., he was awesome! More
We purchased a 2004 Nissan Titan from Midlands Honda on June 9, 2009. Shelley and Steve were great. They were easy to work with. However, we had to wait three hours to see the financial specialist (Stephen Tyler) even though we had all of our financing and paperwork completed before arriving. A week later (June 16, 2009), I received a phone call from the dealership stating they had not received payment on the vehicle purchased. I had to call the lien holder and have them track the payment. The payment was received on June 11, 2009 and was signed for. I don't know where the payment went, but it was not my problem at that point. When we didn't receive our registration, I contacted the dealershi and was referred to Mr. Tyler since he did our financial paperwork. After leaving 6 messages over a week's time and not being called back, I had to drive over an hour to the dealership to get answers. Also, the tire pressure light kept coming on. We found the tire pressure sensor in the rear wheel was missing. When removing the wheel, the mechanic found three lug nuts were cross-threaded on the wheel stud and the studs broken when removing the lug nuts. I called and asked for a refund for the repairs that we had to make and was told it was considered maintanance and they would not reimburse us. After contacting higher managerment, I finally got the answer I was looking for. Thank you to Brent Ferrell for taking care of this issue. One more thing, we found out there was a recall on the AC condenser on this unit but the dealership failed to inform us of that. We were told the condenser was not filtering the water correctly and could cause water to go into the block and mess then engine up. Shelley Fentress was the only representative from the dealership that even attempted to help us. If she didn't know the answer, she would ask someone and call us back. She went out of her way to make sure we had answers. I would recommend Shelley to anyone, but I would not recommend the dealership. More

After several months looking for a SUV for my wife, I finally bought a vehicle from Midland Honda, northeast Columbia. That was on the 4th of July 2009, around 4:30 pm. He took his time and told me I could test-drive any vehicle that I wanted to and that he would wait until I was satisfied. Keep in mind this was on the 4th of July. After buying the vehicle, I’ve been back to see Mr. Caughman just to say thanks. I must say that the finance guy was very persistent to sale me extended Warranty and Gap insurance that I did not need. I had made a very large down payment. He continued to go from one payment to another smaller payment for at least 45 min. trying to convince me, that I needed it. After I had told him I did not want or would select any part of the extended warranty or Gap insurance he finally continued to process the sale. THANK YOU MR. CAUGHMAN More
