Before I begin, I just want to note that Ashley was great. She very pleasant to work with a none of this is directed at her. Prior to bringing in my van, my husband (former mechanic) checked it out t great. She very pleasant to work with a none of this is directed at her. Prior to bringing in my van, my husband (former mechanic) checked it out to see what was what and showed me a broken shock; and only a broken shock. He determined the shock was faulty and my extended warranty should take care of it. My neighbor (who owned his own auto garage for 40 years) also took a look and confirmed what my husband saw. Same also goes for our other neighbor who is an auto claims adjuster. There was no other damage to any other part of my van; not the rim, the frame or anything that would indicate what was referred to at Piazza as “impact damage”. I noted on the envelope at drop off exactly what the issue was and just wanted the part replaced. I also asked to be notified if there would be any out of pocket and that I had an extended warranty on my van. I received a call from Ashley first thing in the morning letting me know it would be $50 to speak with the warranty company and $230 for the diagnostic. I expressed frustration at the diagnostic as I didn’t want to pay and decent amount of money to be told something I already knew. But I approved as I needed my van fixed. A couple hours go by and I’m told the warranty company won’t cover the repairs as my broken shock was the result of impact damage. I then called the warranty company and asked if my policy covered faulty parts and they said yes. I then asked why my it was determined that my shock was deemed impact damage and was told that was the mechanics conclusion. I called Piazza back to get an answer from the mechanic to ask how he came to the conclusion that my broken shock was impact damage. We couldn’t get anywhere and my husband went in to the service department to get my van more answers. He still couldn’t be given an answer as to why the van had no other damage that would indicate impact other than a broken shock. When he asked about the $230 diagnostic fee, he was told it should have only been $100. No answer as to why I was charged as additional $130, brushed off as a mistake. But a confirmation text itemizing the fee indicated otherwise. Ashley quickly adjusted the rate, but the damage was done for me at that point. To only be given answers of “I know better than you” and “that’s company policy” from the mechanic isn’t acceptable on any level. The work on my van should have been covered by my extended warranty. I will never bring my vehicle here again, even if it’s for a recall. More
