I purchase a 2019 VW Tiguan from this dealership on March 14th. 2024. I was pleased that the car had a full gas tank when I picked it up and appreciated that they sent a driver to bring me to pick up the vehicle. I was not however very happy with the way I was taken advantage of by the financial department of the dealership and the fact that the car cost me $2000 more than it was listed at in the advertising. I was told that this was because the car was Certified Pre Owned. That is supposed to include an extended warranty. I was ready to cancel the buy a when the salesman called me with the offer of taking $500 off the price and repair a ding in the drivers side door. When I arrived to pick up the car the ding was still not corrected. The reason was the dentman they called was not experienced enough to fix it. I than waited and hour and a half to be called into the financial office to complete the sale. I was handed a large amount of papers I was instructed to sign. At this point I just wanted to get out of there so I signed anything they put in front of me. When I got home and checked with Volkswagen company I was told that only the original warranty showed on their records. I feel I was taken advantage of and do not appreciate that. I have not purchased a car from a dealership in many years so this was a big let down to say the least. I had the car aligned the day after I picked it up as the wear on the tires indicated that was necessary. On a 4 wheel alignment only one was correct and three were wrong! I also went to my Dentman and had multiple dings on the car fixed at my own expense. I was also promised touch up paint that at a month later I still have not received.Note this is not against the young salesman but directed at the dealership as a whole. Would I recommend them to someone else. No. More
Be warned. “Certified” on the listing in the Mohegan lake VW website may not actually mean that it is certified. This dealership follows incredibly shady practices when listing a vehicle for sale. We called and spoke with the sales staff regarding a deposit to hold a car since we were driving 3 plus hours, they denie listing a vehicle for sale. We called and spoke with the sales staff regarding a deposit to hold a car since we were driving 3 plus hours, they denied a deposit but said they wouldn't sell in the mean time, all good so far. Once we arrived, we were looking at a used tiguan listed at $21k, the saleswoman asked the typical clueless salesperson question of "what do you want to pay per month" as soon as we sat down, we told her what we were looking for considering we had already sat with our bank and figured out after downpayment what we were looking to spend total. Then we went out on a test drive, all fine and dandy. Got back and sat for 5 or so minutes while she "talked" to her manager. She comes out and hands us a few pieces of paper listing vehicle values from CARFAX, and JD Power, both which were a fair bit higher than the $21k price tag online. Good deal right? Nope. Not at all. Next she pulls out the invoice. Talk about sticker shock when she slaps down $28k. All of a sudden, there's a $1999 charge for being a CPO vehicle, an egregious charge of $2570 for a brake job and oil change (which is standard when doing a CPO at this mileage). This should've been included in the online price, or at minimum listed in the ad, or I don't know maybe mentioned on the phone when we said it's a 3 plus hour ride? Then the usual trash dealer fees tacked on. I argued the egregious CPO fee and brake job, but they countered with this is standard business practice and they thought they'd be able to stuff those fees up our keister since we drove so far and wouldn't want to leave empty handed. On the contrary, we left without skipping a beat. They're schiesty and shady as could be, list the car for what you are asking and be honest. don't dangle a carrot and pull the rug at the last minute. Luckily for us, on our way home we managed to scoop a tiguan at another dealer, AT THE ONLINE LISTED PRICE ($21K), had less miles, same features, in better shape and also was CPO certified. Mohegan Lake VW should have their brand license revoked More
Jahaira was an absolute pleasure to deal with. She had very prompt and thorough replies to all of my inquiries (of which, I had many). The service department refused to return calls about our Taos under warranty in need of head gasket repair that they diagnosed. When we went to the dealership after never returning calls the current service Taos under warranty in need of head gasket repair that they diagnosed. When we went to the dealership after never returning calls the current service rep was rude and threatening. We had to call corporate which we never do. VW in White Plains has had to fix the issue and they have been amazing. Never will go back to Mohegan Lake again. More
Internet bait/switch game played here. Confirmed vehicle Jetta GLI availability and told it would be ready for test drive. 1 hour drive to dealer and told car was sold and not available Confirmed vehicle Jetta GLI availability and told it would be ready for test drive. 1 hour drive to dealer and told car was sold and not available when I arrived. Tried to blame internet sales dept person, paperwork. BTW car still “for sale” and has been on lot several months to ‘fish’ people into this loser dealership! More
