Message from Chad Carpenter: I was contacted by our Business Development Center via Kathryn Smith about Todd Scanlon on (9/29/14). I called Todd and we spoke about a 2014 White Dodge Durango SXT AWD 23B package. He had a list of things that the vehicle specifically had to have. Rallye appearance group, sunroof, tow package and the 8.4 touch screen radio which is navigation ready. Todd explained that he lived over an hour away and that he already had a deal pending from Diehl in Robinson at 0%X60 with $5,000 down at $552 a month. He explained to me that he would indeed do business with us if we were able to beat that deal. I had Blancy Mitchell run a locate and found 1 of 2 cars that fit his match. The car in question is at Cochran. So I had Melanie Stolar put together some numbers for us and we did beat the deal from Diehl. We came back at $543 X60 months thanks to a TDM in his wifes name. (Allison) So of course I call Todd and give him the good news and he tells me that he is pretty sure that he is going to do the deal but he has to check with his wife. We waited on him to come in a do paperwork for the vehicle till about 8:45 that night. It was their 30th anniversary and they were at Red Lobster in Robinson. He informs me that they wouldn’t be able to make it in and he put his wife on the phone .She gave me her credit information and credit card # so we could count the deal and secure the car in question. Next morning I text him and asked him what time he would be in to take delivery as we have sent our driver to get the car in question. He (Todd) now tells me that the price that I gave him had to include activating the navigation system. I informed him that I would have to speak with my GM about that as we are on a supplier deal with no trade that there wasn’t any room in the deal to do that. So I asked him if he would indeed split the cost with us and his answer was no that it was not worth it to him to do that. So my sales manager Jeff Yates tried contacting him while he was at work and he said that he would call back at his next break at 1:15. He and Jeff speak and make work something out. Todd says that he would still have to speak with his wife to make sure that it would be ok. I sent Todd a few texts to figure out when he would be coming out. He replied I’m at work, if and when I’m ready I’ll let you know. So another customer came in and asked about a Durango that has similar equipment to the one that Todd showed interest in and I showed it to her demoed it and she sold it. I text him and informed him that it was sold. He text back that he’d be here in five minutes. He never once told me that he was actually coming so I sold it. Message from Jeff Yates: This deal started with the Sales Manager Melanie and Chad Carpenter the salesman on a vehicle locate deal.. A negotiated deal went back and forth on the phone with Chad and Melanie and another dealer was contacted to see if it where possible for us to have the vehicle for our inventory to sell to this customer. The next morning the dealer contacted us and said we were good to trade with him. Not long after the dealer trade was made and we were on our way to purchase this vehicle the customer called and said he wanted navigation to make the deal. The decision by management was made to offer the customer this option at half of the price. The appoximate value of this option was $650 and the customer had already negotiated a price at "Supplier Price" which is a below invoice price. Chad again went back to the customer to let him know there was nothing else we could offer but half the cost of the navigation price , which made it appox. $4.00 more a month. The morning in question is when Jeff Yates called the customer to once more try to make a deal by offering free tanks of gas or anything in the line of service that the dealer could do after the sale. The customer informed Jeff Yates he would have to clear it with his wife first and get back to him.Pretty much the rest of the day was Chad Carpenter trying to reach the customer only for him to respond after several attempts mid- day that "He was working and "if and when he decided to buy a vehicle from us he would let us know"..not the sign of a guy who is really set to come in and take this vehicle we had purchased for the transaction. Subsequently a different customer came in that day and was looking for exactly the vehicle in question. With no response and hear of the first customer and it being the last day of the month management decided to sell this vehicle. Chad Carpenter kindly sent out one last text to let the first customer know that the vehicle was sold. After a complete investigation into this matter it is very obvious that any reasonable person would concur that all measures were taken to finalize a deal with the first customer by Monreoville Dodge and its employees. The decision to sell this vehicle to the second customer was based soley on the first customer stating he had to clear it with his wife and then no answer. and the text statement of "If and when I am ready to buy I will let you know". It was clear the first customer was not done negotiating for more and more and the second customer was ready to sign immediately.

I bought my car in 2007. I was told nothing was free. The sales person had his manager come over and he told me I had to buy the book. If it had not been the car I had been looking for I would have walked out then. That was 6 years ago and it still upsets me that I had to pay for the book that is still totally full.
