Turning ecstasy to ordeal I surprised my wife with a new SUV, and she was ecstatic! Myrtle Beach Kia surprised us both by ruining the day. We arrived at the dealership to I surprised my wife with a new SUV, and she was ecstatic! Myrtle Beach Kia surprised us both by ruining the day. We arrived at the dealership to complete the paperwork - price and financing were pre-negotiated - then waited one and a half hours, totally exhausted and famished, with no food since breakfast, to complete a 15 minute transaction, rather than allowing us to take the vehicle home and return Friday. If I had alternate transportation we would have walked. The business manager remarked derisively, "It's your money," when I declined the gap insurance; at that point I was in no mood to discuss or negotiate anything with anybody at that dealership. We finally got into the car to leave as the dealership was closing at 8:00 PM. The fact that I was left waiting outside the airport for two hours with no communications was a combination of factors largely beyond MB Kia's control, and forgivable. Our treatment inside the showroom was not. The memory of that day and that place will take a long time to fade. Nobody benefited from forcing us to sit alone in the showroom alone for that length of time. When my wife begged to be given the car to return Friday, fresh, to conclude the deal, it was "just a couple more minutes." As it was, we had to return Friday anyway to be shown the features. Again, it was desultory, as if we're just a couple of people underfoot. I'll have to resort to online instructions to figure out the UVO, heating/ac, etc. Ironically, MB Kia was not the low price offer. Another dealer was lower, and offered to go even lower, but my aim was to establish a relationship so my wife could call or drop in with questions, rather than having me guess from 500 miles away. This backfired completely - she has no confidence in Myrtle Beach Kia; gets better support from Battlefield Kia, near our other home, whom we didn't buy from (car is garaged in South Carolina)..
