Terrible service experience Every time I've taken my car here it's been an incredibly frustrating experience. I brought my car in for a door problem and thankfully it was covered Every time I've taken my car here it's been an incredibly frustrating experience. I brought my car in for a door problem and thankfully it was covered under warranty. They needed to order a part for the door, so I brought it back a few days later. I needed an oil change, so might as well do that too. I asked the price and Louis said $45. I'd noticed the B1 code was up, and I asked if that was something more than an oil change. It seems that it is, but honestly I still don't know what the B1 code means. I found out that it would cost around $85. Not great, but ok. Then Louis comes up to me with a list of things he says need to be done, with prices next to each item. It was less than a week before Christmas, so when I saw a very expensive list I got pretty panicked. Sadly now I think he was just trying to line his pockets for the holidays. I said that I can't do all of those, he says the one that really needs to be done is brake fluid. Ok, now we're up to $225, I've been waiting for my car for 2 hours already, he says it'll be another 2 hours. I get a shuttle ride home, and I'm thinking about the other service items Louis said needed to be done. He said that 4 wheel alignment needs to be done every 15k miles, and he's looking at service records that show it wasn't done on my car at 15k (before I owned the car, I got it at 21k), so it's overdue. That's really bothering me because this is my first Honda Certified Pre-owned car, and I thought that meant the previous owner kept up the maintenance, and even if they hadn't, shouldn't I at least have been notified at 21k that it was overdue for a 15k service? So I call the sales side and speak with Daniel. He says that alignment doesn't need to be done every 15k mi, only if there seems to be a problem with the alignment. He is throwing Louis under the bus, and spoiler alert, when I talk to Louis about it he basically throws Daniel under the bus, and I know both were doing that so I would trust them but it resulted in me not trusting either. It's another 4 hours before my car is supposedly ready to go. I will note that the dealership I took my previous Hondas to for many years (Ocean Honda in San Juan Capistrano, where I probably will take my car in the future) they: a) wash cars that come in for service, b) always gave me detailed service information about the car's alignment, brake pads, etc. so I could make informed decisions. It seems that New Century doesn't want their customers to be able to make informed decisions about their cars. Anyways, my car is returned to me, 6 hours and $225 later, in dire need of a car wash, and I feel defeated, like I was really taken for a ride. I'm not a car expert, I know some and am always learning more, but I know that I need to take my car to people that I can trust, and New Century keeps showing me that my trust is misplaced there. I get in the car, turn it on, and the B1 error code is still up, and it still says it has 10% oil life. I go back to the service office, ask Louis if I really did get an oil change and the service, he says yes, they just didn't reset the computer. He is very apologetic, resets it, and writes on my receipt that I can get a free oil change. Honestly, I'm not sure if I tried to redeem it that it would be honored. Also, as frustrated as I was with Louis, he seemed to be doing the lion's share of work in the Service department. At one point he had to yell at the other guys, who seemed to be just messing around and hanging out, that there was a car outside waiting, can someone go help them? It's not a good sign when a co-worker needs to interrupt helping a customer to yell at their co-workers to do their jobs. And not a good sign that as much as I want to keep taking my car here, since it's the closest dealership to me, it's probably not the best idea for me or my car. And, I'm sure the texts are automated, but I really didn't appreciate getting texts from the dealership and Louis through the holidays badgering me to write this review, it just kept reminding me of a bad experience. More
