Dear Mrs. Doody, I’m sorry that your visit to our dealership did not exceed your expectations. We make every effort to provide a great value to our clients with respect to our inventory and our service. The price of our “GM Certified” pre-owned truck was based upon our market conditions. After looking over our truck, your husband took it to an independent mechanic so that it could be inspected. When he returned, he presented an offer that was too low for us to accept. Although we are always anxious to complete a transaction, we cannot move forward if it does not make sense for both parties. With regard to the truck’s rotten egg odor, the causes could be manifold. Sulfur naturally occurs in fossil fuels. Most gasoline in the US has sulfur content at or below 80ppm. As the air/fuel ratio exceeds from 14.7:1, incomplete fuel burning takes place. Based upon the power demand, the amount of fuel being dispensed is always changing. If the air flow does not change proportionately, an opportunity for incomplete combustions is present. Sometimes, a sulfur odor may be noticed from your exhaust when the system is operating properly. Other times, it may indicate that a problem exists. The check engine light will help to identify whether or not a problem is present. Generally, drivers most commonly notice this odor when driving up a hill. Since you can’t smell your own exhaust gas while driving, this odor is coming from the motorists ahead of you. I hope this helps to explain the condition that you’re experiencing. I guess since we looked young and naive your staff treated us like crap. And they claimed to do repairs that weren't completed. My family has purchased cars from you in the past which is why we came because we thought Ayers was a good dealership. No one that I know will ever go back because of the way your staff talked to my husband. I hope Chevrolet is helping sort this out!
