In addition to trying to rip us off and wasting our time, the service manager Phil said my vehicle would be flagged and I would not be able to take my 2016 Nissan Murano to another Nissan dealership to pursue under-warranty service. I agreed to spend only $550 to diagnose why my car was smoking and arrived to find a $709 bill. We were then shifted from department to department in what felt like a game of bad cop good cop. It wasn't until we began speaking to potential buyers in the showroom that our concerns were addressed in a timely fashion. When arguing my case for the bill, I explained that I had agreed to pay up to $550 over the phone and if there was any doubt to pull up the original call which was presumable recorded- according to the recorded voice that claims all calls will be recorded. The employee from the service department expressed annoyance and said calls aren't actually recorded. After having my car held hostage for nearly an hour, the bill was reduced and we were told that we were not welcome to return. I bought this car used in 2018 with 14K miles from a BMW dealership. This is my first Nissan and the newest car I've ever purchased. I've owned three Ford explorers and have put well over 200k miles on all of them. If you want to earn brand loyalty the onus should be on Nissan to diagnose under warranty issues instead of accusing owners of neglect. If you take a quick tour of the internet you will find dozens of forums discussing the Nissan engine sludge problem. It bothers me to think how many other people fall prey to manipulation by this dealership. If Nissan wishes to honor the existing Powertrain warranty and repair my car at an alternative Nissan dealership that would be great. Since we were treated so poorly and are not welcome at Rocking Nissan of Richmond, I would be very reluctant to pursue any service there.
