I purchased a used car from their lot. I asked specifically about any accidents and the salesman assured me that the car had no history of accidents. I unfortunately didn't have the car inspected specifically about any accidents and the salesman assured me that the car had no history of accidents. I unfortunately didn't have the car inspected again since he assured me the car was inspected fully by their team of highly skilled mechanics. Well come to find out the car had been in a major accident and has frame damage - the bill is at almost $3000! and it is still not fully repaired. I am very disgusted with the dealer, since the shop I have looking at it said it was pretty obvious to a mechanic the car had been repaired - so they would have to be lying. DO NOT PURCHASE A USED CAR FROM THIS DEALER!!!!! DEFINITELY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!! More
Avoid Oakbrook Toyota at all costs. After buying a Avoid Oakbrook Toyota at all costs. After buying a used car there "as is" (a big mistake....don't do this, and don't trust these guys), we drove it Avoid Oakbrook Toyota at all costs. After buying a used car there "as is" (a big mistake....don't do this, and don't trust these guys), we drove it for 2 weeks. On our first long trip (home for the christmas holidays), the head gasket on the car blew, leaving my family stranded on the road for 2 days and resulting in a $2000 repair bill. Merry Christmas !! The mechanic who did the job informed me that the thermostat had been deliberately tampered with (in fact, removed from the car) in order to cover up the problem with the head gasket. I called the dealership to inform them and was rudely told "tough luck" essentially. My "tough luck" was being stupid enough to trust in their "160-point safety inspection" and assurances that the car was in good shape. Don't repeat my mistake...... We should have been tipped off to their shady business by our salesman who, after we had bought the car, "loosened up" and told us that he had seen a couple of "queers" on the street and that if his son ever turned out like that he'd "hit him with a bat". At that point we were too tired and eager to just get out of there with our car to say anything. I wish we'd simply cancelled our purchase and walked away. Live and learn, as they say..... More
I found a car on their lot that I really liked. Albert came out while I was looking at it and offered a test drive. He was very friendly, and even though this car was not a Toyota and he did not know muc came out while I was looking at it and offered a test drive. He was very friendly, and even though this car was not a Toyota and he did not know much about it, he was as helpful as he could have possibly have been. I mentioned that it had a slight pull to the right when driving and he said that they would align it for me. The internet price was lower than the listed price and they offered me an OK value on my trade. I asked them if they could do any better on my trade, and they came up a thousand dollars on it. I went ahead and made the deal. The finance department did their best to sell me an expensive extended warranty, which is part of their job, but I do have to say that he was not overly pushing it on me. When I came back for the alignment, it was done on time, and it is the first alignment that I've ever gotten that I was totally happy with! The car tracked perfectly straight. Based on my experience, I would recommend them again. More
Service department is not trustworthy. A relative brought her car to Oakbrook Toyota (at 90K miles) for a checkup prior to a long-distance trip. Oakbrook Toyota changed the timing belt, even tho brought her car to Oakbrook Toyota (at 90K miles) for a checkup prior to a long-distance trip. Oakbrook Toyota changed the timing belt, even though the belt had already been changed at 60K miles, and the sticker on the engine housing clearly indicated as much (normal timing belt change on this car is every 60K miles). They also said the battery needed replacement, and when told that the battery was still under Toyota warranty, and that the warranty paperwork was in the glove compartment, Oakbrook Toyota took the papers out of the glove compartment and hid them under the passenger seat! Since the papers were "lost," we were unable to make the warranty claim on the battery. Less than 6K miles after this repair, the car's water pump failed. Oakbrook Toyota had not mentioned anything about the water pump, and in this car the timing belt must be changed if the water pump is replaced. Thus to fix the water pump, we would have to pay for ANOTHER timing belt. I also must wonder if Oakbrook Toyota managed to damage the pump during the timing belt change. Brought the car to a more reputable dealer, who told us that it's normal practice on this car to recommend changing the water pump at the same time as the timing belt, to avoid the exact predicament we are facing. Oakbrook Toyota didn't do so, at our expense! More
