Amongst friends, I am considered to be the "Guy you bring to a car dealership to get the best price." I've negotiated Saabs, Hyundais, Cadillacs & BMWs and I go to a dealership armed with as much infor bring to a car dealership to get the best price." I've negotiated Saabs, Hyundais, Cadillacs & BMWs and I go to a dealership armed with as much information as I can. When it was time for me to get rid of my gas guzzler and settle for a fuel efficient car I was not looking forward to the buying experience. Some of my negotiations for friends have lasted up to 5 hours between beating the salesman down, then beating the finance guy down. I knew of Konners Chevrolet because my family has purchased a few cars in the past from them. I had no direct interaction with them during those purchases so I brushed up on the competition, dealer incentives, true values and financing options and was ready for war. I had called in advance to make sure that the exact car I saw online was there and made them read the vin back to me. When I arrived, there were no pushy salesman and a member of the Konner family introduced himself to me as Dean. I inquired about the car I wanted and he referred me to a salesman named Mark. I left Dean my license and quickly scribbled my personal information on a piece of paper and asked him to run the numbers. Mark brought me outside, I did a quick inspection for wear and tear and was satisfied with my potential new car. From my research, I knew this car as well as the factory guys in Ohio who put it together. I had test driven a friend's and the warranty would take care of any lemon issues. I didn't want to spend too much time in the lot, because I anticipated a few hours in the "hot seat" and wanted to get this over with. As I made my way back to the office, I saw a different color (with different options) car and told Mark that I'd take this one instead. "No problem, we will make it work." Sure, I thought as I pulled up the new car's vin number on my cell phone and quickly made adjustments to my "This is a favorable deal" price. When I came inside, Mark had brought the window sticker of the new car to Dean and I had a seat. He asked me a few questions and typed a few things into the computer and viola! The price in my head was different than the price he quoted me. About $1500 less than I was prepared to spend! I tried to play with the numbers some more, but he was pretty transparent and there truly wasn't much room for negotiation. Besides, what little money he made off of me he more than deserved. From start to finish I was in/out in less than an hour. It was raining, so we decided on picking the car up the next day so they can properly wash and detail it as they do with all their customers. The next day I met with Mark and he went over all the personalized features like setting up the bluetooth, onstar and satellite options. I still look back at the buying experience and feel a little defeated that I couldn't use my negotiation skills. But that is a good problem to have! I'll drive this for a few years and trade it in. Maybe I will get an Impala, maybe I will get a Malibu. I don't know what I'll be interested in 3 years from now, but I do know that I will go back to Konners when I decide. More
I was in the market for a new car and had stopped a another dealer prior to going to Konner I left the other dealership without buying because I felt I was being pressured to take a car now even though another dealer prior to going to Konner I left the other dealership without buying because I felt I was being pressured to take a car now even though I had told them I was just looking. I decided to try looking for good used car and while driving down Bloomfield Ave I saw a nice Malibu sitting on Konners lot I walked around for a while and I was greeted by a gentleman named Ed he gave me a card and said if I had any questions he would be glad to answer them I told him I was just looking and he said that’s good you have my card and if you need any prices just give me a call and I will be glad to give you them over the phone we are a family store here and want you to feel comfortable during your buying experience. Just to let you know after speaking to my dad about the car at Konners we called and Ed gave us the price including everything and took our credit information over the phone in less than one hour he called us back and we set up a delivery for the next day and to our surprise nothing changed when we got there this was the best car buying experience we ever had! Thank You Ed and Konner More
I have visited this dealership only a few times. First, I had an emergency and needed a one day rental to move some furniture. Irving was so helpful and the dealership gave me a rate better than any place I had an emergency and needed a one day rental to move some furniture. Irving was so helpful and the dealership gave me a rate better than any place else I checked in the area. The next emergency called for some help from service--they had me back on the road within an hour of my arriving unannounced in the middle of the day. Finally, I looked into buying a Malibu a few years back. Though I expressed to the salesman (Jared?) that I may not be buying that day, and I may be inheriting a family vehicle, he took his time to answer my questions and point out some things I didn't think to ask. Everyone at this dealership seemed interested in getting me on the road quickly. I didn't end up buying from them(only because I did inherit the family car), so the least I could do was write a good review--their time and effort is appreciated. More
I usually don't write online reviews, but in this case I thought it was the right thing to do to recommend Konner Chevrolet and let people know what a great experience I had there buying my second new car ( thought it was the right thing to do to recommend Konner Chevrolet and let people know what a great experience I had there buying my second new car (a new, fully loaded Malibu). Right from the start, the staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and they didn't pressure me into a car I couldn't afford (it was on the high-end of my price range, but that's cause of all the features I wanted). You can tell that Konner Chevrolet is much more than a "make money" dealership--they are all about keeping lifetime customers and backing their promises in hopes you come back for your next car, and I definitely will! I guess that's what makes them special, being more of a family dealership. Also, their service department staff are great, and I plan on getting all of my service done there... Thanks again for such a pleasurable car buying experience! :) More
