Even when there was a little misunderstanding over the phone with pricing, when I came directly to the dealer he did everything in his power to help me get behind the wheel of my dream car. He was very genuine in that he was trying to get me what I wanted and make sure I was happy, instead of being just another salesman trying to sell a car. And I believe that this is what will sell a car more than being an annoying pushy salesperson pulling bait-and-switch games...like I have gotten at other dealers! As for the Sales Manager, John Oliver, he was very accomodating when it came to negotiating price, and extremely patient since I know my father can be a bit rough! The rest of the staff was very professional in dealing with business, while at the same time made me feel so comfortable to have a little laugh with when all was set and done. Great team! I will definitely highly recommend friends and family to this dealership. All in all, my experience at Bernardsville VW was top of the line. I went in, got what I wanted for a fantastic deal, and drove away with my brand new Eos without a scratch on me! :) More
The show room was nicely organized. The people there were nice and frendly even to my dog. Nothing bad to say about Bill Gaffney. So far the service was comparable to what I'm use to with my wife's car from BMW. More
fine job! Mike did a nice job showing us the options of cars and also the features of the Jetta wagon. His "no pressure" conversation was refreshing. His knowledge of the features of the car is another reason why we were comfortable buying from him. We are also glad that the dealership is so close to home. This is far better than driving down to rte 22 in all that mess down there. Bill and Lauran Corson More

Excellent experience working with Michael. He was very friendly, responsive, flexible and open to communication via all channels. I found his sales approach to be fair and reasonable. Working hard to cut friendly, responsive, flexible and open to communication via all channels. I found his sales approach to be fair and reasonable. Working hard to cut me a deal while maintaining a profit for the dealership. The process was smooth and positive and while I found the pricing not exactly the rock bottom prices available to me, they were certainly very competitive. With the level of service factored in, I ultimately decided to purchase from Michael and Bernardsville. This is my 3rd VW purchase in the last 12 years. And my second with Bernardsville. If the service department lives up to the standard set by Michael, I anticipate working well with them. However, my first VW purchase from Bernardsville and the subsequent experience with their service department led me to another dealer 10 years ago. So I am cautiously optimistic. More
I purchased my VW here, but when I brought the car in for a regular 40,000 miles service, I walked out with a bill of $1,700. Is that a joke? There was NOTHING wrong with the car when I brought it in. The se a regular 40,000 miles service, I walked out with a bill of $1,700. Is that a joke? The title was ready before they said it would be and I got a $30.50 refund for overpayment of the title fee. I would recommend Bill Gaffney to anyone considering a VW. More
I had gone online to check dealer stock, and invoice price with options before going to the dealership. I chose Bernardsville VW because they had the Tiguan Wolfsburg with the options we (my wife and I) price with options before going to the dealership. I chose Bernardsville VW because they had the Tiguan Wolfsburg with the options we (my wife and I) wanted. When we arrived at the dealer we were greeted by Bill Gaffney. He sent someone to get the vehicle from another lot, while we worked on the deal. He offered a great price on our trade (2009 Subaru Tribeca) and a great price on the new Tiguan. We looked at the vehicle, agreed to the deal, and went into town for lunch while they typed up the paperwork. We arrived back at the dealership after having lunch, and the paperwork was ready for us to sign. We signed all paperwork, the Tiguan had been dealer prepped, and was ready to go. Upon arriving home, we noticed that when they prepped the Tiguan, they installed the front license plate bracket, which we did not need because we live in PA and not NJ. I removed the bracket to find that it had been installed with 4 self tapping screws that left nasty looking holes in the front bumper. Our options were to have an ugly bracket with no plate, run some type of vanity plate, or have a front bumper with 4 holes in it. I called Bill to see what he could do, and he was NOT very understanding. At first he tried to tell me that the car had the bracket on it already, which it did not. We saw it before it was prepped. Then he tried to tell me that all vehicles in NJ had to have the bracket, which is sort of true, but we didn’t live in NJ. Then he tried to tell me that our Subaru had a bracket for a front plate, which it did not, because it was purchased and prepped in Pa. After shooting him down on all comments, he said I needed to talk to the sales manager. My call went to voicemail, and I have not received a call back, nor am I able to get a hold of Bill Gaffney. When I call and ask for him they give me to another salesman, or send me to voicemail, with no return call. In my opinion, the salesman should have told the guy who was going to prep the car that it was going to be a PA car, and that would indicate the front bracket not be installed. Furthermore, if a mistake was made, just admit it, and correct it, don't try to talk your way out of it. The next step is Volkswagen Customer Complaint Department at (800)822-8987. More
