Great experience at this dealership - they went above and beyond to make the deal happen. Even the body shop was awesome repainting our truck cap that transferred to our new truck. beyond to make the deal happen. Junior did an excellent job having my car serviced timely while I waited for it to be completed. Total time was 1.5 hours which was exactly what he advised me. I almost never write reviews, but after my experience on Saturday, April 18th at approximately 11:00 AM, I feel obligated to warn others — specifically about the finance manager at this dealership. I work Saturday, April 18th at approximately 11:00 AM, I feel obligated to warn others — specifically about the finance manager at this dealership. I work as a logistics manager on the night shift and also maintain a second job. I work seven days a week, so my time is extremely limited. When I decide to drive from Central New Jersey to Cedar Knolls — on little to no sleep — to look at a vehicle, it's because I'm serious about making a deal. After a lengthy phone conversation, I made the trip to look at a 2026 GMC Terrain Elevation. I wasn't casually browsing — my lease is coming up and I wanted to handle things early and responsibly. To be fair, the salesperson was professional, courteous, and easy to work with. The individual working the preliminary numbers was also respectful and accommodating. I made it very clear upfront that I was overtired, short on patience, and valued efficiency. They seemed to understand. After nearly three hours — far longer than I ever intended to spend — we negotiated toward a deal. I made concessions, including lowering my annual mileage. I also showed my approximate credit score directly from Experian and other apps so there would be no surprises. Everything was transparent. We ultimately landed around $600 per month. Not perfect, but acceptable. I agreed to move forward. Then the finance manager stepped in. After three hours of negotiation and good-faith effort, he sat down and presented a payment in the $800+ range — a massive and completely unexpected jump. No warning. No explanation. No attempt to set expectations. Just a completely different deal after hours of my time. This wasn’t just poor communication — it was disrespectful. Anyone who has purchased or leased vehicles for decades knows exactly how this feels. You invest hours negotiating in good faith, and then at the final step, someone attempts to reset the entire deal. Whether intentional or not, the result is the same: the customer's time is treated as expendable. I immediately grabbed my keys, thanked them for wasting my time, and walked out. What makes this even worse is that I had referred a close friend who is actively shopping for vehicles for both himself and his wife. I had already connected him via conference call with the salesperson while I was there. This could have easily turned into multiple deals. Instead, because of how the finance manager handled this situation, the dealership lost all of that business. Even more surprising — this occurred on a Saturday around 11:00 AM, and the dealership was largely empty. This should have been an easy opportunity to earn a customer and potentially multiple future sales. Instead, the finance manager managed to derail the entire experience in a matter of minutes. My credit score is not Tier 1, but it's far from poor — and I've secured leases in the past with lower credit scores. The sudden jump in payment wasn't just disappointing — it showed a complete lack of awareness for customer experience and professionalism. Let me be very clear: The salesperson did a good job. The numbers representative did a good job. The finance manager single-handedly destroyed the deal. This experience, combined with previous interactions at Performance GMC locations in Cedar Knolls and Woodbridge, has pushed me to seriously reconsider ever purchasing another GM vehicle again. In today's world, customers expect transparency, respect, and professionalism. Spending three hours negotiating, only to be blindsided at the finish line, is not just frustrating — it's unacceptable. I walked in ready to do business. I walked out realizing my time meant nothing. That’s not how you earn customers. And it's definitely not how you keep them. More
