So, I brought my 2016 4Runnier in for 60,000 mile service on Oct. 10, 2025 (incidentally, this service costs right at $1000) and when the car was returned to me, the dash cam was unplugged from the inside. More

Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We apologize for any inconvenience you experienced with your dash cam. Occasionally, our technicians may need to temporarily disconnect devices in service bays to protect customer information and maintain privacy standards. Regarding the dent on your hood, we understand your concern. While our assessment suggests it may have occurred outside of the shop, we did offer to assist with the repair at dealer cost to help address the situation. We truly appreciate your feedback and will continue working to improve the service experience for all of our customers. — Peterson Toyota Service Team

Your “assessment” about where and how the hood ding is wrong and dishonest and you know it. So is your reason/excuse/story about disconnecting my dash cam while my car was in for service. You got your $1000 out of me for this service. It’ll be the last dime you and your corrupt service Dept. will ever get from me or anyone in my family. Dishonest, overpriced, and disrespectful of an honest customer. Michael White CDR, USN (Retired)

Abby- You are leaving out a numerous amount of facts in your complaint. We want to clarify a few things here. You bought the vehicle in January 2024, and drove it for 8 months and 8,000 miles before the vehicle went into the shop. Not only that, you signed in no less than 7 places that the vehicle was an "AS-IS" vehicle. You were also permitted to take the vehicle to an independent mechanic of your choice for an inspection. We allow all potential buyers to do this. Furthermore, it's a model year 2018, meaning the manufacturer stopped offering any warranties sometime in 2021. How would our dealership, or any dealership for that matter be able to guarantee a 6 year old vehicle with 100,000+ miles will run longer than you expected. We also provided you a loaner car for the extent of the time your vehicle was in the shop. If you don't remember signing the "AS-IS' documents, please feel free to stop by and we will provide them for you to review. If you are going to villainize our dealership, it really is important to include all the facts, because we have done numerous things to help when it would've been very easy for us to not help at all on an "AS-IS" vehicle. As we have stated to you and your husband multiple times, we would be happy to trade you out of it for something else with lower miles. Please reach out if you have any other questions.

There are few points in your response that are not accurate/true. I bought the vehicle January 12th 2024 and it had to be towed to Peterson on July 3rd 2024. That is not even 6 months of driving it before it completely seized and went into limp mode as we were driving on a busy road. We noticed the suspension noise in April 2024 and it slowly got worse. Which we told our service guy. Not to mention, we got told it was fixed, got our car back for a week, just for it to happen again where we were finally told about the list of things wrong with it that were missed the week prior. It was in the shop for over a month and half. Yes, you provided a loaner vehicle, which we were grateful for, but honestly in our opinion that was the bare minimum that should have been provided to us for the amount of things having to be fixed on our vehicle not even 6 months into buying it. We were also told by the service guy at Peterson Chevy that the fluid in the front differential and transfer case were paste, not fluid, and there was no way that amount of build up could have happened in 6 months time. You also mentioned that “we were offered multiple times to trade you out of it for something with lower miles”. We never had this mentioned to us, not even once. We probably would have considered this option if we knew you guys were willing to take it back at all, but the repairs for the vehicle were $28,000 and we bought the vehicle for $30,000 so we would be in the hole either way. We also mentioned in the first review that we understood this was an AS-IS purchase, so your very passive aggressive comment about “if you would like to review the as is papers we signed please feel free to stop by” was very unnecessary and a bit unprofessional. We also were never offered to take the vehicle to an independent mechanic when we purchased the vehicle. This was never even brought up during the sale. Not to mention we had the sales representative with us for the entirety of both of our test drives so we never had a chance to take it somewhere even if we wanted to. I would hope any and all dealerships would be able to guarantee a 2018 vehicle run longer than 5 months without $30,000 worth of repairs needing to be done if it’s being sold on their lot. I’d highly suggest your inspections be a tad more thorough if even an extended warranty and the service representative at Peterson Chevy stated this problem was more than likely an issue before we purchased the vehicle. I would also suggest you train your sales team to not oversell a vehicle that they know nothing about. We were told that tires and breaks were new and they are now needing to be replaced 6 months later which isn’t right. We were taken advantage of for a sale and it is not being made right.

Hi Catalina, we are sorry you did not have a better experience. We tried looking into this matter and it appears we do not have any recent records for service. We could be wrong but we want to verify things with you. Please reach out to Todd or Rich, managers in our service department and they can look into things in more detail.
