The Porsche experience at Porsche Newport Beach was not world class in all dimensions. The no haggle approach was fine and the sales person was congenial and competent. When it came to closing, the process world class in all dimensions. The no haggle approach was fine and the sales person was congenial and competent. When it came to closing, the process took ~3 hours! This is a ridiculous amount of time from when we agreed on the terms of the deal to when we signed the last document. I was actually ready to just leave and go to Long Beach and make my purchase there, but my wife encouraged me to be patient. Supposedly there were "three other closing appointments" ahead of me and this led to the longer than expected wait time. The number of sales people outnumbered the finance person 4 or 5 to 1. If the store has days that tend to be heavier volume, it seems to me that they would increase finance staff to accommodate for the higher sales volume. Ultimately, the customer suffers from this imbalance of staff. The finance person was not in a great mood and it showed through in the closing process. Perhaps his frustration from the disproportionate workload could not be contained. To his credit, he executed some level of service recovery but this came at the urging of the customer (me). Heck, he didn't even shake my hand at the end of the process. Overall, I love Porsche but only "tolerated" my most recent experience at Porsche Newport Beach. More
