Overall my experience with Prestige Toyota of Ramsey is four stars. The process was smooth and fast for making an appointment, arriving, meeting with sales (Hermes...he's awesome!), taking the test drive, four stars. The process was smooth and fast for making an appointment, arriving, meeting with sales (Hermes...he's awesome!), taking the test drive, and finalizing numbers. Then the process came to a screeching halt, unfortunately. There was a backup with the finance/business manager to close the deal, resulting in several hours waiting in the showroom/waiting room. Once the backlog cleared and I was in the business office, that process also went smoothly and quickly. I'm not sure if they were short staffed with business folks, or if it was just the 'complex' case in front of me (per Prestige's employees), but it was frustrating considering all I wanted to do was give them money, and I had a two hour drive to get home. In the end, all staff were very courteous, showroom was clean, COVID protocol was adhered to, etc. No complaints with any of that. I would recommend this dealership with all things considered. More
I sat for 1.5 hours for a software update on my vehicle - to fix the issue I was having. Only to pull out and same issue happened. RAV4 HYBRID DEFECT! My experience with Prestige Toyota RAV4 HYBRID DEFECT! My experience with Prestige Toyota was not a good one and I’m writing this review in hope that no one else has to go through t RAV4 HYBRID DEFECT! My experience with Prestige Toyota was not a good one and I’m writing this review in hope that no one else has to go through the experience that I did. I wish I could begin with something positive but unfortunately I can’t think of anything. The sales rep I dealt with was Christopher D’Onofrio. From the first time he spoke to me until the last time, almost every word that came out of this man’s mouth was a lie. I went up there to test drive an Avalon. I drove the car and really didn’t like it so I asked to test drive a Rav4 Hybrid. I liked the Rav4 and had a truck I was using as a trade in. The trade price for my truck that was offered through TruCar from Prestige was more than what they offered me when it was on paper but they said that was just an estimate and they wouldn’t honor it. There was nothing wrong or misrepresented with my truck but I needed a newer and easier to get into vehicle so I took the offer. They also didn’t take much off the MSRP of the vehicle because they said the hybrids don’t discount much because they’re popular. Anyway, we settled on a price and I said to Chris I read the newer Rav4 Hybrids have had issues with not being able to fill the gas tank. Chris said that was true on some of them but very few. I asked him to verify that with someone and he called someone and asked them. They said Rav4 Hybrids built after April 2020 didn’t have that issue. That turned out to be a lie. Then he printed out a build sheet saying it was September. So I was satisfied and purchased the vehicle. I ran it close to 500 miles and with a little less than a quarter tank left I went to get gas. As soon as the attendant put the pump in it clicked off. Came back again and it clicked off. It took both of us over 10 minutes to fill the tank by trickle filling it. This is the exact problem I was told wasn’t present in this vehicle. The next day I called Chris and said this vehicle has the exact problem you told me it didn’t. He assured me to come up and see him and he said we’ll make this right. He said he was pissed because they gave him wrong information. So I went up to see him and he told me to look on the lot for something else. I told him I wanted a gas model instead of a hybrid because of obvious reasons. So I selected a gas model that was $3,000 less MSRP than the one I was giving back. He say ok and comes back telling me I would have to pay an additional $4,600 for the one I selected that was $3,000 less MSRP. I asked him how that was helping me or “making it right” and he just shrugged his shoulders. Didn’t offer any compromises .. nothing. Just a cold “that’s all I can do”. I told him by rights I should get an equal value car because it has a defect that you said wasn’t there. He just looked at me and shrugged his shoulders with the “too bad” look. In the end, I just wanted to get out of there and never have to deal with them again so I sold it back to them at a loss of thousands of dollars with not a single person in this dealership saying they were sorry or offering anything even remotely comforting. Just a side note to anyone looking to buy a Rav4 Hybrid.. most have a problem with filling the tank and Toyota or the dealership can do nothing about it because it’s a design flaw. Please Google it first before considering one and especially check the Rav4 forums. They are loaded with this complaint. This dealership is selling these defective vehicles without telling anyone and that’s just plain wrong. In the end, I was lied to about a defect they knew about. I was lied to when they said they would make it right. I was lied to about when the check for giving it back would be ready. My choice was lose thousand of dollars more for a cheaper vehicle or lose thousands giving back a defective vehicle. In hindsight, I should’ve run when they didn’t offer me the price for my trade in that they promised through TruCar, so I take some responsibility. I know these reviews fall mostly on deaf ears. I’m sure the Prestige employees and owners out there reading this review and laughing at it. I’m sure Chris is getting a huge pat on the back now for taking me for thousands of dollars without a single word of regret or show of sympathy. This dealership is truly an example of greed and uncaring beyond anything I’ve ever experienced covering other dealerships, realtors, … anything. I don’t wish any ill will on anyone in this dealership, I’m not about that. But I did learn an expensive lesson and I felt the unfairness of this experience needed to be brought to light. More

My aunt de A Most Unpleasant Experience. I accompanied my aunt who was purchasing a SUV and had the most unpleasant experience at Prestige Toyota. My aunt decided to give this dealership her business based on my prior purchasing experience. I previously purchased a vehicle from this dealership and had an exceptional experience. My aunt’s experience with the sales process was somewhat lacking. We shared this feedback with Mario Calle, the finance manager. We then also asked to reinspect the vehicle before taking possession of the vehicle. Mario Calle’s response was to became impatient and irate which ultimately led to him informing my aunt that he would “prefer not to sell her the car and that she could take her check and leave.” This was a check for $30,000. Additionally, during our exchange, he asked me my name. He then looked up my name in the computer and asked the following question: “You live in the Bronx right?” At this point, I was alarmed. What was his reason for asking me this question? Was this a threat? I construed this as a threat as if to say, “I know where you live”. I purchased my vehicle from Prestige Toyota and I service my vehicle at Prestige Toyota. His comments left me concerned for my safety as he has access to my home address. I have purchased many cars and this was by far the absolute worse experience I have ever had. Mario Calle’s lack of professionalism and boorish behavior was alarming. I will not return to Prestige Toyota for future purchases. I will no longer take my vehicle there for servicing nor will I refer any friends or family for purchases. More
