We went to East Hanover Volvo (Prestige Volvo) to look over their used Volvo selections. We spotted a used base-model 2008 S80 with 20+K miles and began talking with Rich Curto about the differences betw over their used Volvo selections. We spotted a used base-model 2008 S80 with 20+K miles and began talking with Rich Curto about the differences between CPO and factory warranties. Rich told us the car did not come with the balance of the factory warranty, then he retracted his statement when I pointed to the window sticker and asked him to explain why the window sticker said it did. Everyone can make an honest mistake, sure, but as the conversation went on, we felt Rich was being purposefully obscure about whether or not the car carried the balance of the factory warranty or whether it was a CPO car (and whether or not it, like some other offerings on the lot, had undergone the CPO process already) so that this could be leveraged to the dealership's advantage should we decide to make an offer on the car. At the conversations end, we still didn’t know what type, if any, warranties came with the car. After that miserable exchange, we reluctantly agreed to test drive the white 2008 S80 knowing full well the dealership was asking $4K more for the car than the Edmund’s TMV estimate for that particular car. Yes, I do price research before I set foot on a car lot. While on the test drive, hardly anything about the car was explained to us. The car was filthy. It look like someone splattered coffee on the roof liner and passenger-side sun shade. We were told they would “clean it up if we decided to purchase it”. Gee, thanks. You would think they would address some of the more obvious dirt prior to displaying a car for sale. Guess not. The ride of the car was wishy-washy and when I made mention of this I was told, “that’s how the car rides, it’s used, after all”. Well, no, I don’t buy it because I drove an S80 at another dealership and the ride was superb. After the test drive we were ushered inside. Feeling uncomfortable with this experience we told Rich we were headed to Ramsey Volvo. Rich asked us what it would take to get us to take the white S80 and “forget about Ramsey”. We didn’t even like the car and he was still trying to sell it to us. Perhaps he should’ve listened to our feedback and recommend another car on the lot but no, he instead asked us what we wanted to pay for the car we just told him we didn’t like. I understand the need to make a sale; I don’t appreciate the tactics employed. We half-heartedly offered a number and was immediately told it would take at least $1K more, minimum, to get the car and then endured a re-hash of the CPO vs. factory warranty cost mish-mash from before. I knew full well what they wanted for a sale price was still above the Edmunds TMV and Kelly Blue Book resale retail value for the car, nevermind the fact that I didn’t like the way the car drove and would not have purchased it anyway. In my opinion, Prestige Volvo does not competitively price their used vehicle inventory. In this particular case, we found Rich to be uninformed about the car, so much so, that we felt the dealership was shady and felt uncomfortable continuing to pursue a vehicle purchase there. Maybe Rich was just having a bad day. Anyway, we left and went to Ramsey and had a wonderful experience. I am loving the car I purchased from Ramsey Volvo! 9June2010: ammendment: Matthew Haiken reached out to me after reading this review; assured me this experience is not the norm for his dealership and offered to make it right any way he could. I appreciate that Volvo East Hanover takes their customer service experiences seriously. For now the best resolution is for the dealership to take the feedback provided and ensure my experience is not repeated in the future. More

I first checked Prestige Volvo on 6/2/10 merely to get a feel for inventory, pricing, financing, etc. Mr. Parada spent so much time with me to ensure that I had all the information I needed to make this very important decision. He was extremely professional but yet so friendly and understanding. I had not experienced that level of comfort in ANY of the other dealership situations. I had no intention of purchasing the car evening...but did. I was so confident in the customer service and the individual attention to my situation that my stressful situation had clearly become an easy one. I picked up my car on 6/4/10. Mr. Parada had EVERYTHING taken care of for me. I didn't need to worry about anything but enjoying my brand new car. Mr. Parada and Prestige Volvo turned a very stressful and scary process into a smooth, positive and rewarding experience. I would highly recommend Prestige Volvo and Mr. Parada for anyone needing a car!!!! More
My husand and I were in the market for a pre-owned SUV. A few months ago we stopped in at Prestige and we were greeted in the parking lot, but to my surprise, not by a pushy salesman but by a man who was i A few months ago we stopped in at Prestige and we were greeted in the parking lot, but to my surprise, not by a pushy salesman but by a man who was incredibly knowledgable and knew exactly what we were looking for. We were very pleased but overwhelmed about purchasing. We went to other dealerships to look at other SUV's none of which compared to the Volvo and I was annoyed by the sterotypical salesman that were assisting us. We knew the Volvo XC90 was for us but we decided to wait a few months. During that time Rich Curto called us and followed up but was never pushy. I called Rich a few months after our initial visit and said we were ready to purchase. We went in on a Saturday and thought it was going to be dreadful since we had no choice but to bring our 2 year old son. Immediately, every employee of Prestige welcomed us and made us feel at home with our son. From the play area they provide to the coloring book package they gave him to allowing us to have our stuff all over that showroom by the end I knew they understood that Volvo is meant for families. What put a smile on my face was when our son was playing at the Lego table while my husband and I were in the finance office, Rich and numerous other employees were at that Lego table playing with him. WOW! Our son didn't even miss us. I am not sure you would find that service any where else. Rich found the perfect car for us. We love the XC90 and we loved how quickly and smoothly the process went. It could not have been any easier!!!! I can honestly say we will remain Volvo owners and will continue to go to Prestige for service and purchasing needs. More

We had to do all the work for the finance manager to get us approved. So we were kind of traumatized by the experience. Going in Prestige Volvo, we already have a preconceived idea about what a "luxury brand" dealership experience would entail. Boy were we wrong! The minute we stepped in Prestige Volvo, we were greeted by the staff and offered coffee and drinks. The staff was friendly and courteous and we didn't feel out of place. Joel Casser was our sales person. He was courteous and knowledgeable. Pricing was competitive and Joel was able to match and offer the exact price and car that we wanted. Not at anytime we felt pressured by him and we left the dealership feeling happy about our decision. He kept us updated on the status of the car from transport to delivery. Pat Masone was our finance manager. He kept us updated on the status of our loan and approval. He made the financing part of the experience as smooth as possible. It was a fair and honest deal on our used Volvo. We visited the dealership on a whim, basically to start thinking about which convertible we would get whne our current lease expired in six months. I wanted a new car and so we found Rich again at PRESTIGE VOLVO in East Hanover, NJ. Rich was thoroughly professional. He found me the car--with all the features--that I wanted. He worked through complicated negotiations with my company (who was buying the car for me) and made sure he stayed in touch with me throughout the process. Today, when I picked up my new 2010 Cross Country, Rich had a sign up in the office congratulating me on my new car. He meticulously took me through all the features of the car before I left the dealer. He was precise, organized, helpful, and an overall pleasure to work with. We will continue to buy our VOLVOs from him. I give him the highest possible rating. More
