Sales manager Joel guaranteed a Mazda5 I test drove was safe and had passed state inspection. I took it to my mechanic anyway. Within minutes they found multiple issues that would fail inspection, incl was safe and had passed state inspection. I took it to my mechanic anyway. Within minutes they found multiple issues that would fail inspection, including a battery not bolted down and twisted, barely attached brake lines — serious safety hazards. I was advised to not even drive it back as it was unsafe. When I retuned within the 24-hour test drive window and tried to show him the inspection report, Joel refused to even look at it and began raising his voice at me on the sales floor. He was belittling me, and drawing attention from customers in the showroom. The first thing he said to me was, “you’re late.” I was within the 24-hour test drive period. At one point I asked him if he would sell this vehicle to his own mother or children. He responded that he was actually planning to sell it to his neighbor’s elderly mother. When I asked if he would sleep well at night knowing the safety issues, his response was “I would sleep very well, thank you very much.” He stated this in front of the service manager and shop foreman. Ironically, when the service manager and shop foreman reviewed the situation, they agreed the vehicle was not safe and had to pick it up from my mechanic. The only positive part of this experience was Jalen, the salesperson, who was respectful and professional. Always get your own inspection before buying here. Mine cost $150, which I’m still waiting to be reimbursed for. With management like Joel, I would avoid this dealership entirely. He gives honest sales managers and used car salespeople a bad name.
