We bought our 2016 Subaru Impreza from this dealer Putnam Subaru Burlingame in April 2016 from the sales person Avery Diamond, and we maintained our Subaru very well and it only had 85,431 miles on it when t Subaru Burlingame in April 2016 from the sales person Avery Diamond, and we maintained our Subaru very well and it only had 85,431 miles on it when the engine failed catastrophically (towed the car to their Repair Service, they said: vales spring broke, valve shoot into cylinder head, valve stocked there - as the valve attached to cylinder head, causing miss fire and broke/cracked Valve Cover: defectively manufactured.) while driving on a regular street with 20 miles an hour!!! When we were shopping for our car at this dealer, sales person Avery Diamond sold us our car. We had test driven an other car, but when we asked to test drive the car we have chosen, our car, Avery Diamond said "you don't need to test drive, they all the same." We trusted him, but when at leased we wanted to turn the key and start the engine to hear how its working, he immediately exclaimed: "DON'T TURN THE ENGINE THERE IS NOT ENOUGH GAS" and later after our payments and paper work was done, they took the car to get it ready to handover. When they said it was ready; we walked to were the car was, engine was on and it was working on high RPM. We asked if that was normal engine being idling so fast/high RPM Avery Diamond said it is normal. We took our car home from the dealer, after driving around for a while parked it in garage. Next morning, when we first cold started the car, there was a Chick Chick Chick sound some kind of metal touching for very briefly for few seconds from the engine and sound went away. This happened everyday once: when we first started the car in the morning and later didn't happened for the remaining of the day until the next morning cold starting the sound was there again for the entire years we have owned our car. At six months service maintenance, we have asked about this noise coming from engine to the Putnam Service Department Manager: Melissa Gutierrez, she said it is normal for the few cars doing this with cold start, and to back her claim up she casually asked a mechanic happened to be near by "isn't that so?" and the mechanic replied "yes, my car is doing that too, nothing to worry" ... so somehow even the Service Department knew about this issue but they were not owning the problem at PUTNAM SUBARU BURLINGAME. MY POINT HERE IS: sales person - AVERY DIAMOND - SOLD US A DEFECTIVE LEMON CAR - KNOWINGLY - HIDING ITS DEFECT BY NOT LETTING US START THE CAR WE WERE PURCHASING TO CONCEAL THE DEFECTIVE SOUND THE ENGINE WOULD MAKE WHICH AT THE END AFTER 9-YEARS DRIVING 85,431 MILES THE SOUCE OF THE SOUND: LOOSE VALVE PIN FINALY GAVE-IN AND CAUSED THE CHAIN OF EVENTS TO THE CATASTROPHIC-ENGINE-FAILIOR AND OUR CAR, PRACTICALLY STILL BRAND NEW LOOKING LIMITED EDITION, LETHER SEATS, ROOF RACK AND ALL THE ADD ONS, IS A TOTAL LOSS NOW. "REPAIRS WILL EXEED THE VEHICLE VALUE" THAT IS THE PUTNAM SUBARU BURLINGAME SERVICE DEPARTMENT'S CONCLUTION ON 08/12/2025 AGAIN: MY POINT HERE IS: SALES PERSON - AVERY DIAMOND - SOLD US A DEFECTIVE LEMON CAR - KNOWINGLY! He explains everything and I left feeling confident in my vehicle. He searched and gave my dog a foldable dog bowl which my dog uses! secure by searching for the They are the best; my sales rep Miguel is so fantastic. He is thorough, communicates well, and shows genuine interest in my comfort, safety and my complete satisfaction. He exemplifies integrity; he listens and is patient. Honestly, ask for this sales rep and you will understand why he receives repeat customers! More

Putnam displayed a promotion in the dealership that had already expired. I inquired about this promotion (2 free season passes to Sierra at Tahoe) and was told it was still valid. Then I purchased the vehi already expired. I inquired about this promotion (2 free season passes to Sierra at Tahoe) and was told it was still valid. Then I purchased the vehicle. Nothing happened with the passses, when I called to follow up I was told they were sorry and would see what they could do / needed to talk to a manager / etc. Excuses. No action. Super disappointed. Excellent service and the exact model/trim/color was available at pre-tariff pricing. I was surprised that I was able to drive in with my 3 year old Crosstrek and drive home with my new Forester. Konstantin was very helpful to work with and he helped my unload all of the stuff from my trade-in and move it to my new car. In hindsight, the only thing I would have changed is selling my car to Carvana rather than trading it in, I would have received about $2000 more than Putnam paid. Other than that, I will likely return in 3 years when it is time to get my next Subaru. More
