We had the worst possible experience at Randy Kuehl Honda. We looked for a newer used car for my wife and this place was local and for some reason, we trusted them. The salesman, that we worked with, f Honda. We looked for a newer used car for my wife and this place was local and for some reason, we trusted them. The salesman, that we worked with, for a year or so, knew that we were looking for a "clean" car without previous damage. This low mileage car was sold (almost at new price) with a sob-story trade-in sales pitch. We asked multiple times if the vehicle was clean and didn't have previous damage. We were assured, with a clear Carfax report, and with so few miles that this was a "Sunday driver". We looked at the car in the dark showroom and test drove it in the dark, then told that others were interested in it. We were asked for a non-refundable deposit to hold the car. (Non-refundable to cover the cost of getting it certified) A "clean" car, with less than 2K miles, you would think it would be certified. We bought it the night before a snow storm and parked it in the garage. After the storm, I blew the drive and backed it out to inspect it. I started to discover that the car had previous body damage and called Kuehl. We got the run-around and put off so the "managers" could discuss it on Monday. While waiting for the meeting, that we're sure never happened, we took the car to a body shop only to find out that the whole passenger side (every panel) had been repainted. We looked in the owner's manual and found the previous owners name, called them and they confirmed that the right side was taken out on the garage stonework. When we asked them if this information was given to Kuehl at the time of the trade, they said yes. After many phone calls and getting nowhere we showed up at the dealership and had the total displeasure of dealing with Nate, the sales manager. We told him about the damage to the car and he denied everything, saying he personally took the car in on trade and it's a great car. I told him about all of the issues and he still denied it. I then asked him what he'd say if I could guarantee that the car had all of the damage and that he knew it. He still denied and asked how I was so sure. When I told him that I talked to the previous owners he leaned back in his chair and said "Oh boy". Nate then stated that he didn't do anything illegal. I asked him if the salesperson told him at the time of the deal that we were particular and that we were looking for a "clean" car. He responded "Yes, but it is a clean car, the Carfax is clean. I asked him who should be the judge of how much damage is too much for a customer. He responded "I don't know". I then asked him if the customer should be the judge of how much damage is acceptable or if he should be the judge. He replied "I don't know, the guy doing the 150 point inspection?" We ended up having an employee drive the car back to the dealership to have it inspected. When we showed up the next night we physically pointed out the damage and he claimed he couldn't see it. He said "I'm not a body guy, apparently you're a body guy if you can see all of this. I told him that we were lied to about the car, they knew about the damage, and we wanted to rewind the deal. He said that there was no way that he'd do that. The only deal that he was willing to do would be, give us $3000 less than we paid (9 miles earlier on the odometer) in trade for a new car. The price he quoted us on the new car was $1000 more than they had it listed on their website. He then stated that he wasn’t even sure if he wanted to sell us a new car because he was afraid that we wouldn't be happy with the quality of factory paint. Insinuating that we were so picky that we wouldn’t even be happy with the quality of a new car. We never should have trusted Randy Steal Honda but did. We thought that this dealership was different but it turns out we couldn't have been more wrong. This dealership is based on shady, morally bankrupt principles that will do anything to make a sale, right or wrong. They may not be acting illegally, but they're not even close to ethical! We will never be doing any business at this dealership and highly recomend others to do the same. More
We purchased a 2012 Odyssey just the other day. We'd been around to a number of different dealerships driving a lot of different vehicles. We'd purchased a CR-V from the same dealership about 10 years been around to a number of different dealerships driving a lot of different vehicles. We'd purchased a CR-V from the same dealership about 10 years ago and since returning to CR have been using them for servicing. Brandon was very helpful on our first visit to the dealership. After eliminating other options, we returned and were helped by Andy. Andy was very knowledgeable about the Odyssey, providing information without being pushy -- one of the better interactions we've had with salespeople throughout this process. While the purchase process followed the traditional script, Andy was helpful and considerate -- even staying late on a Friday after closing to finalize the paperwork so that we could take the van home for the weekend. We're very glad to have been able to purchase the vehicle locally, rather than needing to head North or South to other dealerships. We value a locally-owned dealership and supporting the economy in our home town. More

We were very happy with our new vehicle purchase experience here. I had done my research on the vehicle's comparable sales online, as well as spoken with another dealership in the region, and we we experience here. I had done my research on the vehicle's comparable sales online, as well as spoken with another dealership in the region, and we were very pleased with our deal from Randy Kuehl. Our sales person, Andy Russell, was very helpful and reasonable. In addition, Breck Calame did an excellent job working through the paperwork with us, and was not pushy about any additional sales items. We also appreciate the fact that we were able to work with a local, family-owned dealership!! More
Before I start, I want to thank Matt Smith and Breck Calame for the wonderful experience that My wife and I had with purchasing a used car from them. From both of us, thank you for helping us buy our first car! My wife and I had to look for a car very quickly as our one and only car broke down. We decided to try giving Randy Kuehl Honda in Cedar Rapids a try, as we really wanted to purchase a 2006 Civic. My wife called ahead on a Thursday to inform them that I would be coming to begin initial talk about what we wanted. She was answered by Matt Smith who said that he would be expecting me. From the moment we shook hands and said hello to each other, I could tell that there was something different about Matt than other car salesman. The entire process, he was down-to-earth and straight forward about every aspect, from me laying out what we wanted in a car through signing final papers. Matt answered all of our questions and worked diligently with us to make sure that everything went as smooth as possible. My wife and I really liked the car and told Matt on the following Saturday that we wanted to purchase it. He helped us get some amount off the asking price and walked us through the process from there on out. Again, I felt very comfortable with Matt and never felt defensive or as though I was being talked into something I didn't want. I felt like I was talking to someone who really wanted to help us find the right car. There was a little trouble with us getting approved for financing as we had a 0 credit score. (We are both fresh out of college, me working and her in grad school) This didn't phase Matt or Breck at all, who continued to work with us and let us know that they wanted to help us not only purchase a good car but help us establish our first foundation with our credit. I cannot imagine a smoother process or a better group of people to work with than Matt or Breck. I know that if or when we go to purchase another car, Randy Kuehl will be the first place we go. I highly recommend that you go and ask for Matt Smith. You will NOT be disappointed. More
Very pleased with all the hard work the sales team did for us. A new mini van didn't work out for us but when we came in they had a another plan for us ready just in case and that one worked out better th for us. I thank them so much for all they did and wanting us to move in to the Honda world from the Mazda world we was in. :-)Thanks again you guys are awesome!!! More
Mike was very friendly. He was not pushy nor did I ever feel pressured. He worked hard with sales manager Nate, to get the deal I was after. After some negotiating we reached an agreement. The overall experience is good/great for this car buying process. The dealer is nice and can help customer as requested. Most things went well, except bring some information that customers do not have tim process. The dealer is nice and can help customer as requested.
