I had a great experience when I signed my lease in March 2011 Justin & Nate were great to work with and very pleasant. However, when I decided to purchase my car after lease end it didn't go as well. The mo 2011 Justin & Nate were great to work with and very pleasant. However, when I decided to purchase my car after lease end it didn't go as well. The morning of March 7th I arrived at the dealership for my lease end appointment I was told my original sales person, Justin was out sick. James agreed to help me and preceded to try & talk me into another lease which I understand is part of his job as a salesman. After test driving a new 2014 Soul I was not impressed & said, again, that I was interested in buying my car for various reasons. Basically, James and Tom O. suggested that buying my car was a bad idea & I would be better off to lease again. I was not happy with the monthly payments on either option, lease or buy, so I took what info I had back home to think about it & speak with my husband. My decision was final, I wanted to purchase my car. I had some equity in it & it seemed to be a good price vs anything else I could find online of the same make & model. Later that evening I contacted James to have him 'officially' run my credit to see what rate they could offer. He stated that he would do that & get back to me tmrw (Sat). Sat afternoon/evening I got a call from James apologizing for the delay & that the dealership was extremely busy & he would get back to me with the rate on Mon. I called James Mon late morning & again said he 'was in the middle of helping someone at his desk & would get back to me very soon'. That same evening I called back again & he said he would call me back in an hour. I heard nothing. Finally a few days later I called asking to speak to the Finance Mgr. They patched me through to Rick. He seemed helpful & offered a rate of 3.4% along with info about available warranty options. I informed him that my husband could probably get a better rate of around 1/9% from his bank since I'm self employed. My husband called Rick asking about the 'buy out package' requested from Indiana Members Credit Union. Rick mentioned to my husband & later to me that many dealerships including Ray Skillman don't work with IMC because of bad past experiences. I asked Rick, "So if you don't work with IMC then what are the next steps here? Do I need to come in to sign the buy out pkg, then take it to IMC & return to the dealership with $ ?" He was unsure of how we needed to proceed, said he would get back to me & mentioned that Butler Kia worked with IMC if we would like to go through them. WHAT?! I was extremely frustrated and confused. How does no one know who to help me buy my car and worse yet he referring me to a completely different dealership?! At this point its March 18th, my lease ends March 21st, and I still hadn't heard back from ANYONE at Ray Skillman Shadeland Kia. I contacted the Ray Skillman at 31 South & the finance mgr took my info & said he would call me right back. Twenty min later, Kent from Shadeland called me, offered to help, gave me an incredible rate, we met an hour later, I signed my paperwork & was done. Thank you Kent for FINALLY taking the extra time & effort to help me out. Its absolutely insane to me that it took 5 people and 2 weeks to accomplish something that really should've only taken a hour or two total. Unfortunately, after this experience I will never recommend Ray Skillman to anyone again. More

I drove over 250 miles to get a nice dodge darango for a decent price. Sales rep Tom was nice and pleasant to deal with. After driving home I realized that we had a dodge caravan key fob. I called the sale decent price. Sales rep Tom was nice and pleasant to deal with. After driving home I realized that we had a dodge caravan key fob. I called the sales general manager Nate and he said there is NOTHING they could do. So as of right now they are acknowledging that they handed out a wrong key and are unwilling to do anything in order to give me a correct 2nd key. I'm still trying to get a correct key. Beware if you buy from this dealer, once you drive off the lot they disregard you. As a follow up: Nate Elliott followed up with me on the key fob. After some discussion he had another key made for our Durango and paid for it. I'm glad that things were able to be worked out in the end. -Angela Otis More
