Patience Was Key I came in with a very specific range in budget, a max monthly payment I could afford, and a pretty specific idea of the used car I wanted, as well as I came in with a very specific range in budget, a max monthly payment I could afford, and a pretty specific idea of the used car I wanted, as well as colors I specifically did not want. I would have considered myself a difficult customer, but Josuel made my boyfriend and I totally at home the entire 6ish hours I was there. He was super funny, easygoing, likable, and most of all, PATIENT. I am very picky about lingering cigarette smoke when shopping for a used car, and a handful of the vehicles that met all of my ideal budget/make/color criteria had the faintest odor of old cigarettes which made them an automatic "no" for me. I'm sure that was frustrating for him to have to go back to the drawing board so many times to make other suggestions, but I really appreciated that he never made me feel like he was frustrated with my pickiness. He genuinely put off the energy that he was there to make ME happy by getting me something I'd be happy with, no matter how long the process was. I even found a car that I loved that my dad (via text) expressed major concern in how many miles were on that car, and when I communicated that to Josuel, he immediately went back to their inventory to see what else we could find to not only meet my requirements, but to also get me something that my dad, who wasn't even shopping with us, would feel comfortable with me driving as well. In addition to that, this was the first time I haven't needed a cosigner, so the loan I took out was much, much longer with higher interest than I would have wanted, but Josuel gave me some really helpful recommendations on when to come back in to refinance the car or trade it in so that it would be more manageable because of how much my credit will have improved by that timeline. I appreciated his help so much, and genuinely want to buy all of my future cars from him. Side note, not about Josuel: I didn't really appreciate going through the signed paperwork once I got home and seeing some of the papers I was nonchalantly handed to sign have small disclaimers/print saying that I had the right to opt out of this or that my signature/agreeance on that page was not required of me to buy the car. Ex: the arbitrary agreement. I can't remember the gentleman's name that I did the paperwork with, but I didn't feel the need to hardcore study each paper as he handed it to me because he handed me each paper with a verbal explanation of what I was signing. Ultimately, that's my fault, but I asked questions as we went, and I felt good about the interaction as it was happening. But again, just felt unsettled when I got home and saw that I actually didn't NEED to sign some of what I did, so that option being verbally communicated to me would have been nice, but this is a business, so I get it. That's just the only part of my entire experience that felt deceptive/sleazy, and what I was fearful of in terms of going car shopping to begin with. I also wish that the giant packet of papers I came home with would have included information about how/where I make my car payments, as well as how to utilize some of the benefits I opted into, like the Stated Coverage that I extended for three years. I assumed the paperwork I signed to enroll for that coverage would have had the information of how to redeem that coverage if anything happened to my car, but instead all it said was I would be sent an "approval" for this coverage within 60 days of signing for my car, and if I didn't receive it, to contact my dealer before that 60th day (another thing that would have been super nice to have been told verbally as I was signing). More
