I was very impressed with his ability to make the buying process easy and fun. After the sale he continued to keep in touch to make sure I was happy with the purchase. Recently my wife and I decided to that we would like to search for a BMW X3 35i. We had been watching some of the auto web sites and I was thrilled when I found one that looked perfect at Richmond BMW. I made an appointment with Steve the next day. The car was perfect, the price was extremely competitive, and once again Steve turned a usually tense negotiation into an easy and fun experience. Steve is very professional, very knowledgeable, and actually genuinely fun to deal with. It is by far the most thorough training we have ever received when buying a car, and with all of the features on BMWs we needed it. The service department is great and their sales process is very smooth. Tim Peterson has been my service contact all along and Steven Lerner was great in sales this time around. Both Tim and Steve have been with the dealer for a long time, and I think that says something. I had to have service at a dealer in Greenwich, CN, so I ended up on the mailing list for both dealers. Richmond BMW consistently made much better offers on new deals. Steven even sent me a Thank You note after the sale. They have a great personal touch. More

Horrible customer service! I recently spent more than $600 at this dealership for new tires and after driving to Georgia with my car pulling to the right the entire way, I went I recently spent more than $600 at this dealership for new tires and after driving to Georgia with my car pulling to the right the entire way, I went to Gwinnett Place BMW to have my alignment done/checked. Gwinnett Place BMW service manager called this dealership and BMW Richmond told them I would have to drive back (over 400 miles) so they could look at it. The service manager at Gwinnett BMW was appalled at what this dealership told him. Gwinnett BMW said they couldn't let me drive back to Richmond with a car out of alignment; so they did it free of charge for me. In spite of what the service director Mark Dobinson said, the alignment was never done (or done properly) on the new tires installed! The fact that Gwinnett Place BMW stepped up for shoddy work BMW of Richmond did says a lot of this dealership. If there were "-" stars I'd rate this place a -10. I will take my business to BMW Midlothian. Finally.... I did the survey and rated this place a 1 with detailed comments; not to my surprise that no one has reached out to me about my horrible experience. BMW of Richmond will not get another dime of my money! More

However for my big surprise Steve Lerner treated me since the beginning like I was buying the more expansive BMW model. I arrived on the store late night to see the car when almost nobody was there anymore so he couldn't find the car key to show me. Steve did not give up and kept looking everywhere until he found it. The usual would be send me home and ask to came back next day. From that moment until when I drove my new car away, Steve was 100% professional but with the benefit of a lot of good and funny conversation all the time. If you want to buy a car, I recommend Steve Lerner on the Richmond BWM. If you don't make business, at least you will meet a great guy! I become a big fan of BMW and of Steve Lerner as well. More

Steve Lerner, BMW Richmond salesman Four years ago by happenstance since I live in Hampton, VA I stopped by Richmond BMW to view the BMW wagon with the rear opening window. Met and talk Four years ago by happenstance since I live in Hampton, VA I stopped by Richmond BMW to view the BMW wagon with the rear opening window. Met and talked to Steve Lerner even though at the time I still was not ready for another car since mine was running great. However, if I ever had to change cars it had to be one with that unique and beloved (by me) rear opening window which I greatly appreciated and used daily in my own car. Over the last four years as my car aged with problems and as more wagon-like vehicles were being produced by other auto makers, I waited for one with that rear opening window feature. When that did not happen, even though I knew the BMW wagon did not have enough storage area for my needs, I was getting anxious and nervous. My car was acting up more than usual and so throwing storage size aside, I started contacting local BMW dealers in NN, VB and Yorktown. Each time I visited and talked to any of their salespeople, I found myself automatically comparing them to Steve Lerner and the more rewarding informative experience I had with Steve at Richmond BMW four years earlier. None of the BMW sales people in NN, VB, and Yorktown knew as much about BMW wagons as Steve knew the day I also walked unannounced into Richmond BMW four years ago. One even was not aware the wagons had that unique rear window feature. That and, before I smartened up to know to ask the right questions, one even called to say he had a car I would like but when I arrived for a look-see there sat a sedan, not a wagon. Anyway just a couple of examples why Steve impressed me four years ago and why each time I left a local dealership I came away more impressed with Steve Lerner as a BMW salesperson. I called Steve Thursday of last week and again the conversation was positive enough for me to drive to Richmond BMW on Friday and, even with no real storage space for my needs, purchased from him on Friday my new (to me) 2016 BMW Sports Wagon. To help ease my fear of not having enough storage space in my new BMW, yesterday I purchased a Thule Cargo Box......and today I am very pleased Steve Lerner made such an favorable impression four years ago or today I probably would still be trying to nurse along my old car for a few more months or years.
