Mr. Fordham, the TSB's are extremely VIN specific according to production dates and within specific mileage parameters. The TSB you're referring to does not apply to your specific VIN and prevents us from applying it to your vehicle. Ford Customer Service is going to be your best contact if you want to raise a complaint.

Ford Customer service will not reply to me. Rigo said he would contact Ford and predicted a refund. Has Ford replied to you? The multiple TSBs related to this issue list the exact symptoms and list the specific repair procedures which Riverside Ford did not follow. Surely Ford TSBs are issued so that dealers can recognize the symptoms to identify the problem and correctly perform the repairs according to Ford recommendations. Some of these TSB were issued a year before the failure. The TSB clearly said if the temp control does not work and you hear clicking sounds (both symptoms documented in repair orders) then to avoid repeat repairs replace the housing. You did not replace the housing first time and it failed again, just as predicted. Ford would not have issued the TSBs if they did not expect dealers to follow them. If Riverside Ford had followed the TSB the first time the repair would have been done correctly and failure would not have happened again. Some repair facilities honorably stand behind their work and others only have weak explanations to avoid financial responsibility. Can you provide details on how the multiple TSBs do not apply to my vehicle?

I have copies of my repair orders. I sent copies to Ford Dearborn and got no reply. I also took a copy of the 1st repair order and a copy of the TSB with instructions on how to fix the problem when I brought the truck in to Riverside Ford for the 2nd repair. The TSB was actually followed the second time once I provided the copy. I have copies of Ford TSB SSM49264 (10/15/2020) and SSM50629 (3/23/2022). Both apply 2019-2020 Rangers build before 30-Jul-2020. My vehicle fits that description. Nothing listed on either TSB appears to prevent them from being applied to any specific vehicle that have those symptoms. Since it is not a safety/recall issue it is not tied to a specific VIN. If the TSB was valid the second time then it was also valid the first time when the warranty was in effect. I don't follow your logic.

After explaining and providing documentation, Riverside Ford completed the refund on 04/18/2023. It is not often a business will fully stand behind their repair work and correct mistakes the way Riverside Ford did in this instance. It is a demonstration of their integrity.
