this car buying experience is one for the record books, as far as i’m concerned. 1- the farthest i’ve even driven to buy a car (i made two 6 hour round trips); 2- the nicest car salesman i’ve ever encounte as far as i’m concerned. 1- the farthest i’ve even driven to buy a car (i made two 6 hour round trips); 2- the nicest car salesman i’ve ever encountered; 3- the easiest car buying experience i’ve ever dreamed of having; 4- we found the very car we were hoping to buy; 5- the shortest, most pain-free encounter ever with a finance guy (and it was actually fun!); 6- the first time i can honestly say that i will enthusiastically endorse and recommend a car dealership to my friends. but in detail... my wife and i have been married just over 10 years. when we met, i had a volvo wagon, and she had an outback. she soon bought another outback. trouble was that the local dealer was terrible, and we wanted a larger car to hold more bicycles and more greyhounds. we fell in love with a ford flex, and drove 100 miles and bought a 2011 black flex. a few years passed, and we traded it in for a 2014 blue flex about 140 miles away. flexes are hard to find, it seems. it also seems that a really great dealership is also hard to find. thank goodness my wife knows how to shop online. she found our dream flex - the last model year made, the 2019 white blackout with towing package - just three hours south of us in kansas city. she texted with eric online asking some questions, then when we got back from a brief vacation, and the car was still available, i drove down to meet with eric in person, kick the tires, and just do the real car buying preliminaries. eric was soooo charming, right from the get-go. rather than some environments when you feel like the salesperson is in it only for the commission, eric explained that the non-commission approach at rob sight is so liberating, in that it allows them to really concentrate on making sure that they can take the time to listen and hear what the customers want in a new car, and be certain that if they do make a purchase, that it is a perfect fit, and that they will be as happy as they can be after the sale. this was the first and only time that i have never felt any pressure whatsoever, at any time throughout this entire process. eric texted me several times, just checking on things on this end, giving us updates on his end, answering questions, making himself available - even on his lunch breaks. i tell you, i feel like i made a real friend in eric throughout this car buying experience. it’s so important, when you’re making any kind of large purchase, to feel you can trust the person you’re shaking hands with. backstory here: i’m a retired criminal defense attorney of 37 years experience, and i’ve shaken many hands, all of whom have claimed to be trustworthy. let me tell you, fewer people than you would think (client, prosecutors, judges, and other attorneys) are completely trustworthy, up and down, in and out. but eric dunigan at rob sight ford IS one of those guys in whom i have complete faith and trust. and when i put my recommendation out there on him and on rob sight ford to my friends, and to anyone else who might read this and be persuaded to stop by the dealership to see for themselves, i trust that their experience will be as enjoyable and as memorable as was mine. we absolutely love our 2019 rob sight ford flex.
