I had to take my car to the dealership three times because the engine light was coming on due to cylinder misfires. The first time, for a whopping $1200, they changed my spark plugs to see if that because the engine light was coming on due to cylinder misfires. The first time, for a whopping $1200, they changed my spark plugs to see if that would fix the problem. It did not. The second time, they charged me $1000 to replace the coils for each cylinder. They changed all eight, and they told me that they had never seen a car need every single one replaced. The problem was still unresolved. After spending $2200, the third time they recommended that I change the type of fuel that my car is using. For the record, I was using the appropriate fuel according to the car’s manual. Now the problem seems to be resolved, and I am very skeptical about the $2200 that I spent prior to changing my fuel. I feel like I am paying for the technicians to develop skills and experience while they charge for an extraordinary amount of diagnosis. Lastly, this place has the stones to charge an additional 2.9% if you use a credit card to pay for services. It would have been wiser just to build this in to your pricing. On $2400, this is an additional $70. Given the generous time charging that’s done for repairs, I think this 2.9% looks like a money grab. You’ve always had to pay credit card fees, and overtly passing it along to the customer is in poor taste - again, just raise your prices - it’ll look better. More
