The branch charged me an exorbitant amount of money for a diagnosis. I brought in my Prius for a diagnosis. The service person wasn’t upfront and clear about the pricing and how long it will take. My car was diagnosis. I brought in my Prius for a diagnosis. The service person wasn’t upfront and clear about the pricing and how long it will take. My car was having some apparent engine issues so I took it to my regular mechanic. After running checking it free of charge, he gave me paperwork saying the issue may have to be looked at by the dealership and he gave me paperwork from Toyota that described my exact issue. The next day I took it to Route 22 Toyota in Hillside, NJ at 8:20 A.M. which was the time of my appointment. An associate by the name of Alexis Pacheco took my info and said the work was 4-9-9. Not four HUNDRED ninety-nine but 499 and had me sign off on a pad where I did not see the final price. I thought the price would’ve been just $49.99 because if I had understood her correctly I would not have paid $499 for a simple diagnostic of a problem nor would I have signed off on it if I had seen the final price on the screen. The service took 7 hours with the appointment and I got a call at 3 pm saying the engine was no good and it had to be replaced and I didn’t even get a chance to look at or take pictures of the damaged parts to confirm myself. I sincerely believe this was done on purpose to not fully disclose the price of the work which was just a diagnosis for the warning lights on my vehicle. I spoke to the manager and the only thing he could do was offer a $100 discount which still left me a $425 bill for keeping my car for 7 hrs, not disclosing the full amount to me in writing so i can see and service person omission of the word “hundred” from her language to make the price seem lower than what it was. I feel like this dealership completely overcharged and used tactics of miscommunication to get paid larger labor fees from customers. I went back a few days later the manager told me they charged me $250 just to hook up a diagnosis machine to the car, something that most mechanics and Autozone do for free. More
They are scammers. Do your review before even considering dealing with Toyota Route 22. We were looking for a 2026 Crown, and David dealt with us. Asked for a $2,000 which he himself don’t know when the car would arrive. He didn’t mention that the deposit is non-refundable. We were only provided a receipt with no “Non-Refundable Deposit” written. We found an available Crown in another dealership and their sales personnel confirmed that deposits should be refundable especially when there is no specific date of arrival of the vehicle. We’re now dealing with the credit card issuer to dispute the transaction. More

Came here to lease a RAV4. When it came to the negotiations, the sales manager came out. He was extremely rude, and clearly marked up the vehicle without even being transparent about what the car price was. He literally came out with a blank sheet of paper and wrote a bunch of numbers down (red flag) and but wouldn’t print out the quote or give us the full price of the vehicle we were trying to buy. Overall super scammy, rude, and unprofessional. Do not buy from them!! More
I'm feeling ripped-off by the parts department. A Low Battery Voltage light came on so I looked for a replacement battery for my 2019 Highlander. The NTHSA.gov site said I needed a Battery - Part A Low Battery Voltage light came on so I looked for a replacement battery for my 2019 Highlander. The NTHSA.gov site said I needed a Battery - Part Number 28800-31550. Their parts site listed this battery for $361. I called and they said there was one left. When I arrived, they said that that part was discontinued. The replacement battery - 00544-24FEF-TS 168 was available so I said Ok, and they charged me $361.97. Back home I went online to verify the Start/Stop feature on the battery and the price for the substitute battery was $261.51, $100 cheaper. The guy at the counter said they gave me "the counter price not the online price". No sympathy, not a "Heads up" when he was substituting the battery, just an old fashioned screw job by another car dealer. Most retailers would call a manager over and adjust the price. Not them. I left feeling ripped-off and vowing never to go there again. More

Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this greedy place. This dealer is trying to steal my $2,000 deposit for doing nothing. It seems like I am not the first one this has happened to. I wanted to get place. This dealer is trying to steal my $2,000 deposit for doing nothing. It seems like I am not the first one this has happened to. I wanted to get a quote for a lease on the Bz4x since it would be most affordable route to get rid of my trade in. I ended up finding a buyer that paid MUCH more for my truck saving me thousands of dollars and realized they were marking up the lease + adding xx fees to make more money. After they told me they couldn't hold onto the car I reserved while I sell my old one, I decided to stick with a used car especially considering they wouldn't honor the price (non-itemized order) I signed for. I found out I cannot get an EV charger where I live and don't feel financially comfortable having another car payment. Since my credit was not run, trade in was sold, and car not reserved or delivered to me, I requested that my deposit be refunded. Khaled Elsisi refuses to refund and did not mention that my deposit would be non refundable before I signed and handed them cash. He also refuses to put me in contact with a manager to resolve this issue. I will be contacting BBB and Toyota HQ before I escalate this further. If it were not for the added fees, markups, and my salesperson trying to take my $2,000 in CASH FOR DOING NOTHING, I would not be writing this review as I never write reviews. I simply not feel comfortable doing business with this place after this experience and refuse to accept a "store credit" as a solution. More
