Update: After speaking to the Toyota dealer who performed the paint job, I was offered 1.) Take the car for another paint job attempt, and 2.) Trade in your vehicle for a new 2025 RAV4 Limited and receive a fair trade-in value. Their salesman showed us a Red RAV4 XLE Premium at $43k. We loved the color, but disliked the interior and lack of technology. We asked for a limited, yet none were available. Days later, we went to two Toyota dealers outside the area. The first dealer, after we disclosed the issue with the White Pearl paint, would not even look at the car. The second dealer, after inspecting the car (which we had disclosed the paint issue), offered a trade-in value of $5,000. We quickly realized a new Toyota was no longer an option to consider. At a suggestion of a close friend, we visited a Cadillac/GMC/Buick dealership and road-tested a 2025 Cadillac XT4, a 2026 GMC Terrain Denali AWD, and a 2025 Buick Envision Avenir AWD—all beautiful, technology-loaded vehicles with better interiors than the Toyota RAV4 Limited. Our car was inspected, and we disclosed the issue with the white pearl paint. We were offered $9K for the vehicle due to the paint job. We decided against the XT4 as it had the most outdated technology. We considered the GMC Terrain Denali, but the lack of a BOSE Sound system and the small 1.5L Turbo engine was not enough to beat the Buick Envision Avenir, which features a 9-speaker BOSE Premium system and a 2.0L Turbo engine and active noise cancellation. So, yes, we purchased the Buick. Do I believe Toyota has fallen behind in onboard technology and interior trim quality on the medium-crossover top-notch market? 100%. Do I think the RAV4's engine and ride are better than the XT4, Terrain Denali, and Envision Avenir? The Terrain was about the same, but the XT4 and Envision are light years ahead of the RAV4. Do I think Buick will outlast the RAV4? After my experience with the RAV4, I will state 'Time will tell. ' If you have a similar experience to mine, remember that there are other brands out there. As long as you perform the services on time, most cars will be reliable for at least 10 years. Don't forget to purchase an extended warranty to cover the mechanical and electronic components. I still own a 2012 Camry XLE, a 2012 Scion xD, and a 2002 MR2 Spyder; the paint jobs are holding firm, so for now, I will keep them. Time to sign off, as this retired, disabled combat veteran from the US Army can now rest. Best of Luck to All... and God Bless.
