I would like to share our experience with Scott Clarks Toyota which is a lesson in transforming an extremely negative customer interaction into an opportunity to achieve customer loyalty. We came into the dealership Sat, 7/13 to purchase a pre-owned vehicle for our daughter who had just been in a total loss accident. We were expecting the top notch experience we always hear advertised and what we found had been just the opposite and extremely offensive due to our dealings with a particular salesman. Our experience with James Rucker left us feeling victimized by unethical sales tactics and inappropriate behavior, the details of which I choose not to elaborate on in favor of talking instead about how Jim Cline and Travis Wilson transformed that experience. I notified Chris Cady (managing partner) and Toyota of our experience with no expectation that they would do anything about it or even respond. Take note that this was the moment of differentiation that set Scott Clarks Toyota apart from most other dealerships. Not only did Chris Cady respond immediately with a commitment to look into the matter, but he put the matter into the hands of General Manager Jim Cline. Jim contacted me the very next morning, listened to the details of our experience and assured me he would address the situation with urgency. At that point, I truly believe he wanted to ‘right’ the situation without fully realizing he was putting into motion an experience for our family that would ensure future business with Scott Clarks. Still with reservations about purchasing a car from Scott Clarks after our initial experience, we agreed to go in and talk about the car we were interested in. Jim greeted us immediately. He apologized for our prior experience and, with great professionalism, addressed our concerns and talked with us about the deal for the car we were interested in. It was clear Jim had addressed the negative experience we’d had with any relevant individuals. Jim then handed us off to Travis Wilson to complete the details of our purchase if we still wished to proceed. We found Travis so sincere, spot on and direct in his approach, that we felt confident enough to move forward with purchasing a car for our daughter. To transform an experience like ours was no easy task and to say Jim Cline and Travis Wilson went the extra mile to ‘right’ the situation is an understatement. Wrapping up our final customer service experience was Cameron Townsend (finance) who very ably walked us through our financing documents in a personable and knowledgeable way. Quite honestly, we are surprised ourselves at how what started out as a bad experience turned out to be an experience in which we would recommend anyone buying a car from JIM CLINE and/or TRAVIS WILSON. Jim and Travis truly understand and embrace the customer service experience and I feel confident we will find our decision to move forward with the purchase validated in the coming years as we have our daughter's vehicle serviced and perhaps, even purchase more cars. I am very pleased with my recent purchase of a new Toyota Avalon Limited and the Sales & Finance staff at Scott Clark. Reggie and Jason especially, they were both great. I have been a Lexus owner for sever Avalon Limited and the Sales & Finance staff at Scott Clark. Reggie and Jason especially, they were both great. I have been a Lexus owner for several years, but now I am looking forward to this recent switch to the Avalon. So far I am very pleased with all of the standard options that you have to pay extra for at Lexus. More

We had such an enjoyable experience buying a car from Robert Van Alstyne that my husband and I want to invite him over for dinner to celebrate. I’m not kidding. It was that pleasant. I had emailed five dealerships asking for a price on a Toyota Highlander Limited on a Friday night. Rob responded immediately and sent me a price within a couple of hours. By 11 a.m. Saturday, the four others had responded, but no one else gave me a price. My husband and I went to Scott Clark Toyota and asked for Rob. The car I had inquired about was sold the day before, so he showed us others. He carefully pointed out all the features and the shortcomings such as, “If you have seven people in this car, there’s not much room for luggage.” How refreshing not to be over-sold! Rob’s previous career owning and operating a high-end custom landscaping company (typical projects in the $25K-$200K range) prepared him well for his current role. The level of service Rob provides is what you’d expect with a luxury vehicle, but it’s at a Toyota price! Rob has stayed in contact with us in the three weeks since we purchased. You can tell he really wants his customers to be happy with their vehicle of choice. Since buying my new Highlander, I’ve been reflecting on my first job answering the phones on Saturdays at a local car dealership while I was in high school. The schedule the sales force works is brutal – late into the night, every weekend and every holiday. Potential customers make appointments, and then do not show up. People naturally come to the car buying process with a defensive stance. And, the sales people put their lives in jeopardy every day jumping into cars with strangers test driving. It takes a hard worker who is not faint of heart to sell cars and be successful. That’s Rob. When you have an amazing car-buying experience, you have to document it. Rob is a gem, and everyone we encountered with Scott Clark Toyota was excellent. When you are in the market for a new Toyota, Scion or a previously-loved car (like the one I traded in), we highly recommend Rob and Scott Clark Toyota. I had shopped several dealers in the Gastonia are, Toyota and Nissan, to name a few and then I had the great opportunity to meet Mike Black at Scott Clarks Toyota. My experience at the Gastonia dealers was the same old, "dance and game playing", that some dealers do. Not with Mike. When I first met Mike it was by chance and my appearance gave the impression that I could barely afford to buy a coke, much less a brand new 2013 Toyota Tacoma. That did not change Mike one bit. Upon my first hand shake with him to the completion of the sale Mike was very professional, sincerely friendly, and very very knowledgeable of the product. I had met Mike on a Thursday for about 30 minutes, returned Friday with my wife to look at colors and was there about 45 minutes at which time I agreed to make the deal with Mike. Saturday I completed the paper work and took possession of my new Toyota Tacoma. My entire experience with all the team at Scott Clarks was really great. Marc Bartalini in the business section helped me through the paper work and sale completion with the cashier department. Marc was no different than Mike. Very professional, friendly, helpful and again very knowledgeable. Then entire staff at Scott Clark to include the young lady who delivered the vehicle to me were outstanding. I am a Vietnam veteran, 64yrs old, and have met and dealt with many people through the years, to include car dealers, and in my opinion Scott Clarks Toyota is the most outstanding I have ever met. I could write volumes of my wonderful, stress free purchase from Scott Clark, but will simply say, OUTSTANDING.
