I was blown away at how everyone who I dealt with did everything they could to help me get what I wanted or needed. Even the ones who I didn't deals with were very friendly and made me feel right at home everything they could to help me get what I wanted or needed. Even the ones who I didn't deals with were very friendly and made me feel right at home. I didn't just feel like a customer but part of their family. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a car. They made car buying enjoyable and would come back there when or if I ever need a car again. More
We had such an enjoyable experience buying a car from Robert Van Alstyne that my husband and I want to invite him over for dinner to celebrate. I’m not kidding. It was that pleasant. I had emailed fi Robert Van Alstyne that my husband and I want to invite him over for dinner to celebrate. I’m not kidding. It was that pleasant. I had emailed five dealerships asking for a price on a Toyota Highlander Limited on a Friday night. Rob responded immediately and sent me a price within a couple of hours. By 11 a.m. Saturday, the four others had responded, but no one else gave me a price. My husband and I went to Scott Clark Toyota and asked for Rob. The car I had inquired about was sold the day before, so he showed us others. He carefully pointed out all the features and the shortcomings such as, “If you have seven people in this car, there’s not much room for luggage.” How refreshing not to be over-sold! Rob’s previous career owning and operating a high-end custom landscaping company (typical projects in the $25K-$200K range) prepared him well for his current role. The level of service Rob provides is what you’d expect with a luxury vehicle, but it’s at a Toyota price! Rob has stayed in contact with us in the three weeks since we purchased. You can tell he really wants his customers to be happy with their vehicle of choice. Since buying my new Highlander, I’ve been reflecting on my first job answering the phones on Saturdays at a local car dealership while I was in high school. The schedule the sales force works is brutal – late into the night, every weekend and every holiday. Potential customers make appointments, and then do not show up. People naturally come to the car buying process with a defensive stance. And, the sales people put their lives in jeopardy every day jumping into cars with strangers test driving. It takes a hard worker who is not faint of heart to sell cars and be successful. That’s Rob. When you have an amazing car-buying experience, you have to document it. Rob is a gem, and everyone we encountered with Scott Clark Toyota was excellent. When you are in the market for a new Toyota, Scion or a previously-loved car (like the one I traded in), we highly recommend Rob and Scott Clark Toyota. Plus, the complimentary manicures when you have your car serviced at Scott Clark Toyota are sweet! More
I had shopped several dealers in the Gastonia are, Toyota and Nissan, to name a few and then I had the great opportunity to meet Mike Black at Scott Clarks Toyota. My experience at the Gastonia dealers was and Nissan, to name a few and then I had the great opportunity to meet Mike Black at Scott Clarks Toyota. My experience at the Gastonia dealers was the same old, "dance and game playing", that some dealers do. Not with Mike. When I first met Mike it was by chance and my appearance gave the impression that I could barely afford to buy a coke, much less a brand new 2013 Toyota Tacoma. That did not change Mike one bit. Upon my first hand shake with him to the completion of the sale Mike was very professional, sincerely friendly, and very very knowledgeable of the product. I had met Mike on a Thursday for about 30 minutes, returned Friday with my wife to look at colors and was there about 45 minutes at which time I agreed to make the deal with Mike. Saturday I completed the paper work and took possession of my new Toyota Tacoma. My entire experience with all the team at Scott Clarks was really great. Marc Bartalini in the business section helped me through the paper work and sale completion with the cashier department. Marc was no different than Mike. Very professional, friendly, helpful and again very knowledgeable. Then entire staff at Scott Clark to include the young lady who delivered the vehicle to me were outstanding. I am a Vietnam veteran, 64yrs old, and have met and dealt with many people through the years, to include car dealers, and in my opinion Scott Clarks Toyota is the most outstanding I have ever met. I could write volumes of my wonderful, stress free purchase from Scott Clark, but will simply say, OUTSTANDING. I highly recommend this Toyota Dealer......Thank you Mike Black and Scott Clarks Toyota. More
The overall experience was very good and the service before and after the sale has been excellent. I bought a Prius, which is in high demand since gas prices are high right now, and I think I got a pre before and after the sale has been excellent. My husband and I are rebuilding our credit (we don't recommend getting divorced and losing your job in the same year). We needed a second car with low mileage and great fuel efficiency. We debated a buy recommend getting divorced and losing your job in the same year). We needed a second car with low mileage and great fuel efficiency. We debated a buy here/pay here type of dealer, but the more willing a place is to work with your credit, the worse of a deal you seem to get, not to mention the poor-quality inventory available to bad credit folks. So I searched on Auto Trader for local dealers that work with all types of credit and many of the big dealers claim to do so. I liked the online price of a Kia at Keffer Kia of Mooresville and started there. I quickly learned that most dealers include rebates in their online prices...rebates that maybe 2% of the population qualifies for, so that seems like a bait and switch legal issue to me. Next I learned that the interest rate cap on a new car loan is 10% in NC vs. a 28% cap on a used car loan. Unfortunately that was a boldface lie and the cap is actually 18%. Makes a big difference on a now $17,000 bottom of the line Kia Soul. Desperate for a sale, the finance manager promised he could get a deal for my required monthly payment. I was desperate for a car and wanting to get the process over with so I let him try and took the car overnight to try it out. The next day he called and apologized for not being able to make it happen at the monthly payment we wanted. He was unwilling to budge on the price, even though the vehicle was listed for $4k less on Auto Trader with the rebate caveat buried. No matter, I didn't like the Soul anyway. Terrible blind spots and stiff seats. Now to the fun part of my story. I saw Scott Clark ads everywhere, but they are about an hour and 40 minutes from us, so I was hesitant to drive all the way down there to be faced with a similar scenario. I reached out through the website and got a call immediately from Bill Patterson. I tell him our situation and my fears about going all the way down there just to be disappointed. He confidently explains how they move 500+ cars per month (is that even possible?!) so they have leverage with the banks. He also promised that the online prices were no non-sense. I already knew they had a huge inventory in our price range, so we took the gamble and headed down after work. Bill surprised us by having us fill out applications first. He said he wanted to know what we could qualify for so that he could only show us cars we could afford. He came back 2 minutes later and said "you want fuel efficiency right?" 2 minutes later we were test driving a Scion xd (the car we wanted all along). 2 minutes after we got back he presented an offer with our exact desired monthly payment. We drove it home shortly after. It was the most refreshing experience after facing denials for the last 3 years. Icing on the cake - we just received the rejection letter from Wells Fargo for the Kia Soul. Wells Fargo is the bank that financed our Scion! Bill wasn't kidding when he said they have "leverage with all of the big banks"! He was also right about the no-nonsense prices - matched exactly to the online prices. I couldn't find another dealer within 50 miles of our house that didn't have some sort of price caveat on Auto Trader. That speaks volumes to me. More
Scott Clark Toyota Scion has been in Charlotte for many years with my first purchase from them being in 1982. Since then members of my family have purchased over ten vehicles from them and not once have we years with my first purchase from them being in 1982. Since then members of my family have purchased over ten vehicles from them and not once have we been disappointed with the sales process or the subsequent servicing of the vehicles. My most recent visit was to consider purchasing a Tacoma. I called ahead and set up an appointment with Robert Van Alstyne who was the best salesperson I have ever dealt with. He was friendly, helpful and completely knowledgeable about the product. Additionally, he never once introduced any pressure into the sales process but gave me solid reasons why the purchase would be a wise one. If anyone is interested in purchasing a new vehicle they will be very impressed with Robert Van Alstyne and will have a positive experience which is rare in the car sales world. By the way, he never mislead me on anything and conducted himself with Honor.....which is what you would expect from a former Marine. Thanks for your service Robert! More

I bought a 2011 certified used car (Hyundai Sonata) at Scott Clark's Toyota Center through Robert Van Alstyne.
