Completely satisfied with purchase of new Avalon Ron Babice is the best! He was very helpful in introducing us to the 2017 Avalon. It was our first new car in 17 years, and a whole lot of high tech Ron Babice is the best! He was very helpful in introducing us to the 2017 Avalon. It was our first new car in 17 years, and a whole lot of high tech safety features have been added in that time. He and the Serra team worked with us and were able to deliver our new car at a price that was better than expected. When we went to Serra, I had very little hope that we would be able to work out an acceptable deal. But not to worry, Ron made it happen. At delivery, Ron was patient and thorough in going over the controls and features and even linked our phone to the car. This is probably easy for most folks to do, but not for us. Imagine, talking to your car. Will wonders never cease! Thanks Ron, for a job well done. Ruby and Ed More

I literall We have now bought two cars from Serra Toyota of Birmingham. I am from The Tuscaloosa area and it is worth the drive to go to Serra Toyota. I literally walked out on a Tuscaloosa dealer after speaking to Aundrae on the phone from Serra Toyota. They have the best deals around. We loved working with Courtney Moore who helped us test drive a Toyota 4 Runner. Courtney went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. Phillip and Andre were also great to work with. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a new or used vehicle. They will treat you right at Serra Toyota! More
Unrealistic Pricing I went to Serra Toyota to purchase a Land Cruiser. Serra had a Cruiser on its website with an MSRP of $89060 but when you clicked the button to unloc I went to Serra Toyota to purchase a Land Cruiser. Serra had a Cruiser on its website with an MSRP of $89060 but when you clicked the button to unlock the price, it showed a price of $80115. I went to the dealership to discuss purchasing the vehicle. We got within about $1,000 of where I wanted to be and I said I would think about it. I contacted them later that week and they said the price on their website was a mistake and that they would now only sell the Land Cruiser at full MSRP. I don't know who would buy a Land Cruiser at full MSRP. I went to Hoover Toyota the next day and got an amazing deal well below MSRP. The salespeople at Serra do seem very nice, as all of the reviews say, but there are nice salespeople at other dealerships and you don't have to way overpay. More
Communication is the key! I decided a couple of months ago that I would try to find a Toyota Scion. My son and my nephew both drive the Scion XB, and they both bought them fro I decided a couple of months ago that I would try to find a Toyota Scion. My son and my nephew both drive the Scion XB, and they both bought them from Serra Toyota in Decatur. Based on their buying experiences, the quality of their vehicles, and the proximity of the dealership in Decatur, I went online to their website and found a 2015 Scion XB that was available for purchase. As it turned out, the vehicle I was interested in purchasing was physically located at Serra Toyota in Birmingham, which is well over an hour away from where I live in Decatur. When I asked if they could transfer the vehicle to the Decatur location, I was basically told that I would have to sign the paperwork to buy it, sight unseen, before it could be brought to Decatur. Also, I was told that a $1500 transfer fee would be added to the purchase price if they transferred it. I was unwilling to do that, and decided to drive to Birmingham to test drive the vehicle. The salesman I worked with at Serra Toyota of Birmingham was Allen. He could not have been more pleasant and helpful. He met me in the parking lot with the keys to the Scion, I drove the vehicle, and decided I wanted it. I did not purchase the car that day, but did purchase it a couple of weeks later. Serra Toyota of Birmingham sent a driver to Decatur to swap the Scion for my trade-in vehicle. He also brought all of the paperwork for me to sign for financing. The financial manager TOTALLY messed up my paperwork. The first thing that jumped off the paperwork at me on the first page was the color of the car. According to the financial manager, the car was ORANGE. Depending on the light when you look at the car, you might think it is black, purple, or dark maroon. (The actual color is Sizzling Crimson.) ORANGE??? REALLY??? Based on that glaring error, I knew I needed to read everything closely. As I read the documents, I marked through everything that was incorrect and initialed the errors. The driver (bless his heart) told me they wouldn’t accept the documents with those mark-ups on them. I told him that was fine, but I wouldn’t sign paperwork that I knew was wrong. (I worked for attorneys for a while, and I know that if you sign a document, it means you agree with its contents.) I called and talked to Andre, who I believe is the General Manager of Serra Toyota of Birmingham. I spoke to Andre at least three times. My understanding of what he told me was to just go ahead and sign the documents, and they would correct the paperwork. I told him there was no way I would do that. The last document in the stack was an Affidavit that stated I had been given an opportunity to have the vehicle checked out and knew it was mechanically sound and had no body damage. When I told Andre that I would not sign the Affidavit until I had it checked out, he agreed to give me 2-3 days to get that done. I got it done that day and called him to let him know I would sign the affidavit. As we were discussing the document situation, Andre stated. “Now I’ll have to send the driver back up there to get you to sign the paperwork.” I said, “Why don’t you just overnight them? I can sign them and send them right back.” I couldn’t believe that never occurred to him. A while later, someone else called me to verify that I agreed to allow them to overnight a package to me. Duh!!! One of the basic problems I see in my experience with Serra Toyota of Birmingham is people don’t talk to each other. Andre, the financial manager, the administrative people, and even their receptionist, don’t seem to communicate at all. When I called the first time to talk to Andre, the receptionist asked what I needed to talk to him about (assuming she had been TOLD to do so). When I explained the problem with the paperwork, she said, “You need to talk to someone in the financial office because they prepared the documents.” She transferred me immediately. Of course, I got voice mail. I called back. She again told me who I really needed to talk to. I interrupted her and asked her to transfer me to Andre. (The driver, thankfully, had told me who the general manager was.) She argued with me, and I told her Andre was the person I had to talk to. I don’t think she was happy, but did transfer my call. When I talked to Andre, he, too, argued to me about signing the paperwork. However, he DID give me his cell phone number so I wouldn’t have to go through the receptionist to speak with him. Yea! After we discussed the situation several times, Andre stated the paperwork would be corrected and agreed that I could get the car inspected before signing the Affidavit, the driver left with my trade-in vehicle. Also, I received three requests from different Serra employees requesting a copy of my insurance card. When O told the third perdon I hasd already sent iot to Andre and another person. She asked me to send it again. One of the things I noticed immediately when I was provided the car key was there was only one key. Andre said that apparently when the car was traded in, the previous owner only gave them one key. If I wanted to have a second key, I could have one made at the Decatur dealership. WRONG!!! It should not be the responsibility of your customers to have to spend money having a key made. Not only are they expensive, but that is just bad customer service. A few days later, I thought to look in the glove box for the owner’s manual. When it was not in there, I contacted my salesman. He said they would try to find one for me. After searching for the manual, it was determined that they are no longer available. The bottom line for me is this: Serra Toyota’s employees need to communicate with each other. Also, and this is a biggie, whomever determines that used vehicles are ready to go on the lot to be sold, should be held responsible for ensuring that everything a customer expects to be with the vehicles is there. Customers SHOULD NOT have to deal with arguing with your dealership about a key or an owner’s manual! THAT PERSON should have to “take the hit” financially for these discrepancies. Maybe then, they would actually DO THEIR JOB!!! Finally, if your financial manager worked for me, they would either be fired, or sent for training. If MY paperwork was this screwed up, they’re doing this to other customers, too. The mistakes obviously are much more apparent when your customers are not actually sitting in the manager’s office and can be easily corrected on the spot. More
