Not a slimy salesman I’ll start off by saying I’m not the easiest customer. I’m a royal pain in the butt. I want what I want and will fight for it. I lowballed the guy on the used expedition el we wanted. Like really lowballed him! He could’ve blown us off at that point but he thanked us and we left when he said no way. A while later he texted with a lower price offer saying it was the best he could do. It was a fairly significant difference but not quite enough. I came up a little on my end and he said no again. We decided to drag our herd of 5 boys down to the dealership to see if we could work something out since I felt like we could come to an agreement as we weren’t too far off. We went down there and “harassed” him to get the deal we wanted. He was nice enough to oblige and try to get the price closer to what we wanted. In the end we ended up paying very slightly more than our absolute max and feel we still got a very good deal. We had already looked at about 10-15 of these expeditions at other dealerships and they were all rusted and falling apart. This one wasn’t. It was the base model and kinda bland but had added heated leather seats. A hot booty is very important in these cold winter months, especially since I’m not fond of freezing cold leather. After the price was agreed upon, the sales manager Marc ran our credit. We already had a preapproval from a credit union with a fairly low apr but we wanted to see if they could better. They did!! Marc got us an apr at about 3% lower than our preapproval which ended up saving us about $1000 in overall interest in the life of the loan. Couldn’t have been happier with that! He did great! Then we went to Juan for the final paper signing where he offered us the warranty. We usually don’t buy it but he explained it very well and it actually covered more than a simple power train only warranty so we decided to purchase it. We felt much safer buying a used vehicle with the warranty as we had already been burned once before. We’ll probably cancel the warranty after a few months if everything checks out. I stressed that poor guy out too with my back and forth on the warranty. He reprinted the paperwork 3 times because of my indecisiveness on the warranty. The most fun part was responding to him in Spanish and watching his jaw hit the floor. I look like a pasty white girl but I’m actually half Cuban and he didn’t know it (hence the crazy)! So muchas gracias Juan! Thank you Chris for putting up with me without knowing what the heck you had gotten yourself into and for delivering my vehicle the next day and complimenting the cleaniliness of my home! Sorry the bathroom was a mess but it’s clean now if you want to visit again. (I have no shame people! Really! 5 boys and one bathroom!) Haha! Thank you Marc for saving us a ton of money. Makes me feel less bad about going slightly over my max price! Once we pay off the expedition, we might be back for a truck! Overall I’d recommend this dealership as the guys are fun to mess with and they aren’t your typical slimy car salemen. Our mechanic looked over the vehicle and said we got a good one this time! When I called I had the good fortune to make contact with Phil McColly. Phil was very helpful in getting us measurements that we required on the truck and answered all our questions even though the truck was at their other lot in Keizer. We decided that the truck would work for us so we headed to Oregon. Phil met us at the Keizer location and helped us through the purchase process. He asked about and listened to our needs and didn't try to sell us more than we needed. He understood that we had a 10 hour drive home so he met us early and helped get us back on the road. He followed up with us after we got home to find out how our trip went and that we were happy with the truck. Really enjoyed working with Phil and would recommendhim and Skyline Ford. More
